KTM 390 Enduro R Launched; Details

The 390 Enduro R shares its platform with the 390 Adventure, and as such, it is built on a steel trellis frame, with a bolt-on aluminium subframe. The frame makes use of the same suspension setup from the 390 Adventure, featuring 43mm WP Apex open-cartridge forks with 200mm of travel and 30-click fully-adjustable compression and rebound damping. The rear makes use of a WP Apex monoshock with 205mm of travel, 20-click rebound damping and 10-click preload adjustability.

The overall frame also makes use of a unique steering head angle, triple clamps with 25 mm handlebar risers, and subframe mounts for off-road use, enhanced handling and control.

It also makes use of a 21-inch front and an 18-inch rear wheel setup with spoke-rims, shod on knobby tyres, and for braking, KTM has deployed a 285mm front disc with dual-piston ByBre radial calipers, along with a 240mm rear disc with a single-piston ByBre calliper.

Powering the 390 Enduro R is the same 399cc, liquid-cooled LC4c single-cylinder powertrain with ride-by-wire throttle. It continues to produce 45.3bhp at 8500rpm and 39Nm of torque at 6500rpm, while paired to a 6-speed gearbox with an optional bi-directional quickshifter and a slip-and-assist clutch. However, the gearbox comes with internal changes. Similar to the 390 Adventure, the 390 Enduro R also gets a smaller cylinder head, a new airbox and new fuel injectors.

In terms of features, the 390 Enduro R comes with a 4.2-inch TFT screen with the usual bits and a gear-position indicator, along with bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, a USB C-type port, a 4-way joystick, an illuminated switchgear, music streaming, switchable ABS, ride modes and traction control.
Verdict
The 390 Enduro R may prove to be extremely capable tool for those who have gotten used to something like an Xpulse 200 4V. While the lesser suspension travel may raise a few questions, KTM says a long-travel suspension variant is on the cards, and at the same time it could prove to be a versatile daily motorcycle as well.
