Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber - Whitewall Tyres
The 350 Bobber has been spied on twice until now. Both times, it was seen with white wall tyres. Now, if you do remember, the classic 60s-era bikes used to get white-wall tyres. These tyres not just look retro but also provide a distinctive design approach to the bike. Apart from the cool design and looks, there is no functional advancement of the whitewall tyres above the regular tyres. However, going by the looks and design of the Bobber format, these will surely make it look like a head-turner.
Ape-Styled Raised Handlebar
The last spy shots of the Bobber test mule were taken at a rest area. The test mule was parked underneath the shade and the bike looked pretty much production worthy. The interesting part to note in these photos was the handlebar design. It was equipped with an ape-styled raised handlebar. Mind you, such a design of a handlebar is usually seen on Western chopper bikes. However, we are not sure whether this would be offered as a standard part or an accessory upgrade. Both ways, it'll make this Bobber look uber cool & distinctive.
Unique Seat Design
The first test bike, which was spied on, had a single seating option. However, the latest test bike had a unique split seat bolted on a single cradle attached to the frame. In fact, this design was also seen on the Classic 650 test bike which accompanied the Bobber. However, we suspect that RE will offer the Bobber with a single-seat option as standard. Meanwhile, the customers will get an upgrade option to the split seats by paying up extra.
Engine & Specifications
As it'll be based on the J platform, it'll use the same 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled unit as on the Classic 350. This engine makes a peak power of 20.2 bhp & 27 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed transmission. However, to adjust to the dimensional changes and weight of the Bobber, RE might re-tune this engine. The power delivery and gear ratios on it shall be fiddled with to provide a tractable riding experience.
Price & Launch
Royal Enfield will pitch the Bobber as a lifestyle motorcycle. Therefore, its price will be slightly higher than the current Classic 350 range. We suspect that it'll be positioned well above of Rs 2 lakh mark. Its global debut might take place by the end of this year. While the Indian launch of it shall take place by the second half of 2024.
Verdict - The upcoming Bobber from RE will be a lifestyle motorcycle. RE is not concentrating on sales via the Bobber. However, for users who want a stylish motorcycle to commute and potter around the city; the Bobber 350 is going to make a strong case for itself.
