Simple One Electric Scooter - Design
The Simple One is a complete futuristic package in terms of design. It is full of sharp edges and sharp body lines. The front is V-shaped and uses a powerful LED headlight that also has an LED DRL bar. Similarly, the side profile looks powerful via the molded front indicator design, gloss black alloy wheels, big rider seat, and commanding riding posture. The overall outlook of it is more suited for young buyers who look for performance. However, it also gets utility-based design elements like a pillion grab-rail & large footboard area to carry luggage as well.
Features
Simple One is going to be loved by tech-savvy audiences. It features a large 7-inch touchscreen instrument console. This console supports multiple OTA updates as well as gets features like Google Maps, Geo-Fencing, TPMS, a vehicle tracking system, & even a virtual wallet to upload your necessary documents. Meanwhile, the LED lights overall make it look more aggressive on the road as well as help in better illumination. Additionally, it also gets swappable batteries, a fast charging option, & a massive 30-lt of under-seat storage space.
Specifications
The hardware used on it has also been well sorted. At the front end, it gets a telescopic suspension unit and a 200mm petal disc brake. Also, it is fitted with 12-inch alloy wheels on both of its ends. The front tyre profile is a 100/80/12 while the rear is a 110/80-12; making it look chunky and sporty. Also, at the rear it uses a monoshock suspension while the rear brake is also a 190mm petal disc. Both of the brakes are combined via a CBS. Additionally, Simple has fitted regenerative braking on both of its braking ends. The ground clearance of it stands at 160mm while the seat height is fairly low at 775mm. The kerb weight of it is 110kg. Also, if you've not seen our detailed ride review of this e-scooter; please watch below.
Battery, Performance, & Range
As the new AIS standards are here for EVs, it'll get a 4.8kWh Li-ion battery that will be AIS compliant as well. This battery pack generates a peak torque of 72 Nm via an 8.5kW motor. All thanks to the bigger battery, the Simple One can achieve up to 236 km of riding range on a complete charge. However, the tested range is in ECO mode only, and that too in a controlled environment. Hence, the actual city riding range is claimed 203 km; which still makes it the longest riding range quipped e-scooter in its segment. Also, the claimed 0-40 kmph mark comes under 2.95 seconds. Also, the claimed top speed is 105 kmph which is at par with its rivals like Ola S1 Pro & Ather 450X Gen 3. Speaking of the batteries, the 7kg battery pack of it is swappable. Also, the fast charging helps it in getting 0-80 percent of charge in just 2.75 hours.
Verdict - Price & Launch Date
Simple Energy has already undertaken bookings for its Simple One when it was showcased two years back. The introductory price for it was Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) at that time. However, the introduction of stricter battery norms led to repeated delays in its launch. Now, it is finally going to be launched on 23 May. We anticipate that the new prices might see a hike due to the new AIS-compliant battery. Also, Simple might introduce new features as well as new colour options along with the launch.
