Merely a month following its worldwide introduction, the freshly unveiled BMW CE 02 electric scooter has been spotted in India. The sighting took place in a public area, specifically in Sringeri, Karnataka, showcasing the scooter parked prominently. This imprints a strong footprint for BMW in the electric segment.

Let's look at the details of this scooter under testing in India.

BMW CE 02 Electric Scooter Test Mule Spotted

While the scooter is spotted in India, it is unclear if the TVS is testing it for a version of its own, or preparing to manufacture it for the BMW. TVS currently manufactures bikes for BMW here in India, and for exporting as well. These are only speculations at this point, however, let's jump into the details of the scooter.

While the design of the scooter is a distinction in itself, the form factor is another differentiating element. While it departs from your usual imagination of how a scooter looks like, it gives the customers a range of customization options as well. BMW CE 02 incorporates a dual-loop steel frame featuring an adaptable rear shock absorber. It maneuvers on 14-inch wheels at both the front and rear, contributing to its commanding and assertive stance on the road. Safety takes precedence with front wheel disc brakes and ABS, while a rear wheel gets a single-sided swingarm and belt-drive power mechanism.

Features

The inclusion of a 3.5-inch micro TFT screen affixed on a single bracket, imparts a floating visual effect and provides access to a variety of information. Elevating connectivity further, riders can link their smartphones with the BMW Motorrad Connected app and BMW Backend Connectivity. This integration opens the door to an array of features, conveniently accessible through dedicated controls situated on the left handle.

The CE 02 also boasts an array of premium attributes, including LED headlights, upside-down (USD) front forks, a unified flat seat, an elevated handlebar, and sleek sporty rear-view mirrors.

Battery Options And Range

The CE 02 introduces battery flexibility, accommodating diverse travel needs through single or dual-battery options. Each lithium-ion battery, with a 2 kWh capacity, caters to different preferences. The lighter single-battery variant weighs 119 kg, providing a 45 km range and a top speed of 45 kmph. In contrast, the dual-battery version at 132 kg extends the range to 90 km, delivering 15 hp and a top speed of 95 kmph. Charging conveniences are varied, with a standard 0.9 kW charger and a faster 1.5 kW option. The dual-battery version charges in around 5 hours 12 minutes (standard charger) or 3 hours 30 minutes (fast charger). The single-battery version requires approximately 3 hours 2 minutes with the standard charger.

BMW CE 02: Price And Indian Launch??

In the international market, this scooter is priced from USD 7.6k, which translates to about Rs 6.3 lakh. However, it is still unclear if the scooter is lined up for an Indian launch or not. One possibility is that the TVS might manufacture it for BMW for export purposes, or test it for an iteration of its own. While both speculations share equal weightage, the answer to an Indian launch lies in the future. Stay tuned for more updates.
