Suzuki e-Burgman - Details
As expected, the revealed e-Burgman looks enticingly similar to its ICE cousin. The maxi-scooter design and the tall body frame are still persistent on it. However, to accommodate the battery & e-motor, there are crucial changes done to its frame. For example, the motor is placed at the hub. Hence, dual shockers are placed alongside to offer better ride quality. Meanwhile, the battery pack is placed underneath the seat. Additionally, the rated peak power of the battery is 4.0kW. But, this power can increase on the launch model because it's still in its testing phase.
Speaking of the specifications, the battery pack is going to be a swappable one. Hence, riders will be easily able to ride it without range anxiety. However, the claimed riding range is very less. It is claimed to do up to only 44 km per charge. But, this range can be done at a top speed of up to 60 kmph. The seat height of it is high at 780mm. Meanwhile, its kerb weight is 147 kg which is also on the higher side. Mind you, all of these details are still not fixed. The e-Burgman is still in the testing phase & hence its range and specifications can change in the future.
Verdict
The EV scooter market in India has seen a steep hike in sales. Players like Ola S1 Pro & Ather 450X Gen 3 are already doing good sales. Hence, the big manufacturers have learned that it is indeed a dire need to be present in this segment. Going by the present scenario, we suspect that Suzuki might launch the e-Burgman in India by the end of this year. Its pricing can be on the higher side of Rs 1.75 lakh.
