Tata is ready to launch a Dark Edition of the Safari in a couple of days. The company has revealed an official teaser video on their social media platforms of the upcoming Tata Safari. Tata had received a good response with the dark editions of Nexon and Harrier and with this Safari will also be available in this all-black colour shade very soon. Here are our renders on how the SUV will look like in a dark shade.
Just like the name suggests, the Dark edition Safari will come with an all-black theme and no changes will be made to its dimensions, features or specifications. The interior and exterior of the SUV will sport a completely new shade where the standard chrome elements get replaced by piano black elements. The front grille, bumper, skid plate, and even the alloy wheels will feature the piano black theme.
The Dark Edition might be limited to the higher versions as is the case with other Tata Dark Edition models. Owners will have to pay a premium of about Rs 30-50k over the normal Safari versions. The latest Safari is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is capable of churning out 170PS of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The SUV comes mated to a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Safari directly competes against the likes of MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar. Jeep is also expected to launch a seven-seater Compass in the market that will also be a direct rival of Safari. The entry-level trim of Tata Safari is priced at Rs 14.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and the top-of-the-line model is priced at Rs 23.19 lakhs (ex-showroom). The upcoming Dark Edition should also be launched at a similar price tag to that of the Gold Edition or the Adventure Persona.
