Believe it or not, the pick-up truck segment is currently dominated by the one and only Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. However, even before its launch in the Indian markets, Mahindra introduced the modern-day pick-up truck with the Scorpio Getaway. Yes, the Scorpio getaway was one popular pick-up truck for those looking to explore the wilderness.
Mahindra Scorpio Getaway was launched in 2007 and was available in both 2WD and 4WD variants. Well, the latter makes much more sense! This Getaway has also been owned by famous Bollywood celebrities like Mandira Bedi and more.
Both the 2WD and 4WD of the Getaway were priced at Rs 7.0 lakh and Rs 8.0 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi respectively. The main USP of the Getaway was to provide extra cargo space with maximum utility and convenience to the consumers via its grand deck.

From the exteriors, the front profile gets an integrated bull bar and halogen headlights. It also gets a scoop at the bonnet and came with five-spoke alloy wheel design. The side profile used to get sporty graphics to distinguish itself from regular Scorpio. It also gets 16-inch wheels with design 245/75 R16 dimensions. Mahindra provided four colour options with the Getaway which were - Fiery Black, Rocky Beige, Mist Silver and Turf Green.
The interiors of the Getaway were modern too as it got several comforts and creature comforts. It came with all four power windows, power steering, manual AC controls, central locking and voice assist system. Once you step inside, it features the same dashboard design, centre console, steering wheel and the seat upholstery like found in the regular version of Scorpio SUV.

Under the hood, it features a 2.6-litre common-rail diesel engine which was designed in collaboration with Austrian engine designer AVL that delivered 115 bhp at 3,800 rpm with a peak torque of 277 Nm of peak torque at 1,800 rpm. To further improve the off-roading capability of the pick-up truck, it gets shift-on-fly on the rear axle.
