1. Maruti Suzuki Celerio (26.68 Kmpl)
Maruti Suzuki Celerio AMT is the most fuel-efficient AMT car in India. Launched recently, Maruti Celerio AMT is powered with a 1.0 Lt, 3-cylinder petrol engine which produces a peak power of 67 PS and 89 Nm of peak torque.
Developed by Maruti itself, a 5-speed AMT gearbox is mated to this engine which helps the new Celerio to achieve an ARAI certified fuel economy of 26.68 kmpl. The new Celerio AMT is price between Rs 6.13 - 6.94 Lakhs.
2. Maruti Suzuki Dzire (24.12 Kmpl)
Leading the list, Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT petrol is the second most fuel-efficient automatic car in India currently on-sale. With a claimed ARAI figure of 24.12 kmpl, Dzire justifies its name.
Available between a price range of Rs 7.69 - 9.13 Lakhs, Dzire is offered with a 1.2-Lt, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 89.7 PS of peak power & 113 Nm of peak torque. A refined engine and sorted 5-speed AMT transmission help the C-sedan to achieve the claimed fuel economy figure of 24.12 kmpl.
3. Tata Tiago (23.84 Kmpl)
Tata Motors entry-level hatchback Tiago has established itself well in the Indian market. Sturdy built quality, decent cabin space, and an attractive price tag have helped Tiago sell well.
Available with a 5-speed AMT avatar, the 1.2 Lt 3-cylinder petrol engine of Tiago produces 86 PS of peak power & 113 Nm of peak torque. This combination has been well-tuned to achieve an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 23.84 Kmpl. Tiago AMT is one of the most fuel-efficient AMT cars in India.
Tata Tiago AMT is priced between Rs 6.35 - Rs 7.30 Lakhs.
4. Maruti Suzuki Swift (23.76 Kmpl)
Not so surprisingly, another Maruti Suzuki joins the list of the most fuel-efficient AMT cars. Swift is one of the best selling hatchbacks in India. It had been the segment king of sales once and now its retracing its success.
Priced between Rs 7.24 - 8.63 Lakhs; Swift AMT uses the same 1.2 Lt, 4-cylinder petrol engine as that of Dzire. A 5-speed AMT gearbox has been tuned to provide convenient rich comfortable driving with an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 23.76 Kmpl.
5. Renault Kwid (22 Kmpl)
Renault's entry-level hatchback Kwid is also one of the most economical car choices in India. The 1.0 Lt, 3-cylinder petrol Kwid makes 68 PS of peak power & 91 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed AMT gearbox which can touch the claimed ARAI figure of 22 Kmpl.
Competing with the likes such as Alto 800, Renault Kwid is the only car in that segment to offer AMT option. Renault Kwid AMT is priced between Rs 5.09 - 5.71 Lakhs.
6. Datsun Redi-GO (22 Kmpl)
Based on a similar platform as that of Kwid, Datsun Redi-GO uses the shared mechanical framework from Renault.
Under the hood of Redi-GO is a 1.0 Lt, 3-cylinder petrol engine which makes 69 PS of peak power and 91 Nm of peak torque. The in-house developed 5-speed AMT gearbox helps the Redi-GO to achieve an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 22 Kmpl.

7. Maruti Suzuki WagonR (21.79/20.52 kmpl)
India's best-selling car is 7th on this list. Favorite pan country, Maruti Suzuki WagonR offers an outstanding mixture of affordability and reliability.
Maruti offers the WagonR with two engine options which include a 1.0 Lt, 3-cylinder petrol, and a 1.2 Lt, 4-cylinder engine producing 68PS/91NM & 83PS/113NM of power figures respectively.
WagonR is offered with the convenience of an AMT/AGS gearbox which results in a smooth driving experience. Maruti has tuned the AMT in such a way that the 1.0-Lt WagonR can achieve an ARAI claimed 21.79 kmpl whilst the 1.2-Lt WagonR can achieve an ARAI claimed 20.52 kmpl of fuel efficiency.
The AMT WagonR is priced within a range of Rs 6 - 6.58 Lakhs.
8. Maruti S-Presso (21.7 kmpl)
Launched with a badge of 'Micro-SUV'; S-Presso has not found many buyers since. Aimed to cluster the tier-2 and tier-3 city buyers, S-Presso is made to tackle the bad roads with its higher ground clearance.
Powering S-Presso is the same 1.0 Lt, 3-cylinder petrol engine which is seen in the WagonR. This engine is mated with a 5-speed AGS/AMT gearbox which is tuned to touch an ARAI-certified mileage of 21.7 kmpl.
S-Presso AMT is priced between Rs 5.05 - 5.21 Lakhs.
9. Maruti Suzuki Ignis (20.89 kmpl)
The last Maruti Suzuki in the list of AMT cars with maximum fuel efficiency is the Ignis. Swift-based hatchback Ignis found a mixed amount of buyers because of the already widespread hatchback portfolio of the company.
It is powered with the same 1.2-Lt, 4-cylinder petrol engine which is seen in Swift and Dzire as well. It produces 83 PS of peak power & 113 Nm of peak torque. The same AMT/AGS 5-speed transmission is used in Ingnis.
Due to the heavier built and different tuning of the gearbox, Ignis AMT can get a maximum ARAI certified 20.89 kmpl of fuel efficiency. Maruti has priced the Ignis AMT from Rs 6.46 - 7.62 Lakhs.
10. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios (20.5 Kmpl)
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios has been in consistent demand due to its value for money tag and spacious cabin. Offering decent features, Grand i10 Nios AMT petrol can also achieve an ARAI claimed 20.5 Kmpl of fuel economy.
Powered via a 1.2 Lt, 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 83 PS of peak power and 113 Nm of peak torque, the 5-speed AMT gearbox works like a charm inside the city conditions.
