Toyota Glanza Recalled: But Why?
Toyota is voluntarily recalling around 2300 units of the Glanza hatchback. But you might be wondering why. Based on the Maruti Baleno, there is a possible defect with the fuel pump motor that might occasionally stall the engine, states the brand. The units affected are manufactured between 2 April and 6 October 2019. Toyota is actively reaching out to customers for check-ups and if the issue is found, it will rectify it free of cost.
Toyota Glanza comes with a 1.2 litre NA petrol engine that puts out 89bhp of power with a peak torque of 113 Nm and comes mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Interestingly, it also comes with a Petrol+CNG variant, but the performance figures drop in the CNG mode. It is currently being offered in four variants namely, E, S, G, and V. The prices start at Rs. 6.86 lakhs and go all the way up to Rs, 10.00 lakhs ex-showroom.
Fronx-Based Toyota Taisor Launched
Toyota has launched the Taisor SUV based on the Maruti Fronx at a starting price of Rs. 7.73 lakhs ex-showroom. While it offers the exact same engine options and features, it comes with specific exterior and interior tweaks. However, even though the SUV is a rebadged version of its Maruti sibling, it retails at a higher price point. Verdict
The recalls are not rare in the industry and are generally a good sign as well. Don't take us wrong, we are not setting aside the fact that there is an issue with the affected subset of vehicles, but the brand actively contacting the customers and rectifying it free of cost shows their commitment to heightened customer satisfaction and responsible operations.
