TVS Apache Various Categories

Apache RTR 160 2V

The Apache RTR 160 2V is where it all begins. With prices beginning from Rs 1.21 lakh (ex-showroom), the RTR 160 2V serves as the entry point into the Apache lineup. The RTR 160 2V is built on a double-synchro stiff frame, while sharing the same 159.7cc, single-cylinder engine, producing 15.8bhp at 8750rpm and 13.85Nm of torque at 8750rpm in Sport mode. Speaking of which, it comes with three riding modes; Sport, Urban, and Rain.

In terms of features, the RTR 160 2V comes with a digital cluster with bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, calls/SMS alerts, race telemetry, lean-angle sensor, and crash alerts among other things. It also packs in single-channel ABS. The RTR 160 2V retains the design and bodywork from years ago, featurig the same half-fairing, which might suit to fans of the original bike.

The RTR 160 4V is among the most popular Apaches on the road today, competing fiercely against the Pulsar NS 160 and the N160. While it shares the same 159.7cc, single-cylinder powertrain with the 2V, the difference here is the addition of two more valves and varying power outputs; 17.3bhp at 9250rpm and 14.73Nm of 7000rpm.

The RTR 160 4V is built on a double-synchro split stiff frame, and in terms of features, it gets the same digital cluster from the 2V, along with bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, calls/SMS alerts, race telemetry, lean-angle sensor, and crash alerts among other thing. Additionally it also packs in voice assist, USD forks and dual-channel ABS on the higher variants. Prices begin from Rs 1.24 lakh (ex-showroom).

Apache RTR 180

The RTR 180 continues to be the other of the two Apaches to be offered with the familiar, older design, featuring the bikini-fairing and the LED headlamp adorned within, along with the recognizable fuel tank and LED tail light. The Apache RTR 180 is among the few Apaches offered in a single disc variant, which is priced at Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom).

In terms of specifications, the RTR 180 packs in a 177.4cc, two-valve, single-cylinder engine producing 16.7bhp at 9000rpm and 15.5Nm of torque at 7000rpm, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. It gets disc brakes on both ends, and it makes use of conventionall forks and twin shock at the rear. There isn't much that separates the RTR 180 from the top-end variant of the RTR 160 2V.

Apache RTR 200 4V

The RTR 200 4V sits in the middle of the naked motorcycle range in the Apache lineup. It carries on a similar naked design language, but with a few differences here and there, a slightly more muscular look and different paint schemes. Underneath the naked design lies a 197.7cc, four-valve, single-cylinder powertrain, producing a peak output of 20.4bhp at 9000rpm and 17.25Nm of torque at 7250rpm, paired to a five-speed gearbox.

The RTR 200 4V is the other Apache that can only be had in one single variant, which is priced at Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom). Its features list is not too different from the range-topping variant of the RTR 160 4V either.

The RTR 310 is the newest motorcycle to enter the Apache lineup, and it is also the biggest naked Apache in the lineup. Sharing its trellis frame with the fully-faired RR 310, the sub-frame is a revised aluminium unit. The powertrain has also been shared, with the 312cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled powertrain producing 35.1bhp at 9700rpm and 28.7Nm of torque at 6650rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter and a slip-and-assist clutch.

The Apache RTR 310 also made a lot of noise for packing in features such as cruise control, a ventilated seat, five riding modes, GoPro connectivity, voice commands, a bunch of electronic rider aids, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system among other things.

Apache RR 310

The Apache RR 310 is the flagship motorcycle in the Apache lineup, and it is a proper track weapon, given its fully-faired design. It was the first fruit of the partnership between TVS and BMW Motorrad; something which is set to repeat in the near future as well. The 312cc engine has been retained, but it now produces 37.4bhp at 9800rpm and 29Nm at 7900rpm of torque, and many internal changes have been made to make it better.

In terms of features, it now gets gets cruise control, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a bunch of rider aids as well. The RT-DSC, as TVS calls it, is the race-tuned dynamic stability control that uses a six-axis IMU, for functions such as cornering ABS, cornering traction control, rear lift-off control, wheelie control, slope-dependent control, and even cornering cruise control.

Verdict

These are the various motorcycles available in the TVS Apache lineup, which is also proof of how much the brand has grown over the years, how successful it has been, and how much love it has garnered among buyers and enthusiasts alike.
