Hero Xtreme To Get a Bigger Engine?
Now, as per the spy shots, it is clearly visible that the new Xtreme will get a bigger bodyshell and a new engine as well. However, there were rumors on the internet that it is a 210cc engine that recently made its debut on the Karizma XMR. But, look closely and the crank casing is different and bigger on it. Additionally, the exhaust design and the outlet pipe diameter are bigger which indicates a bigger engine. So, what it could be? As we know Harley-Davidson launched the X440 with a bigger engine; it is possible that the same powertrain might follow its way onto the Xtreme. But, due to dimensional changes & performance requirements, the power figures might be higher.
Meanwhile, this new 440cc engine is loved by the audience for its tractability on the X440. It produces a peak power of 27bhp & a peak torque of 38 Nm. To keep the streetfighter character relevant on the Xtreme, these figures might be revised. Also, the spy shots show that the bike will get an aggressive design with a sculpted fuel tank & big tank extensions. Meanwhile, the headlight is placed low and it'll be an LED unit for sure. The chunky tyres also do add to the appeal of it being a proper middle-weight naked sports bike. Nevertheless, we expect this to debut sometime early next year in India.
Verdict
The Xtreme 160R 4V has received good response from the market. Hence, to extend the brand into the performance segment, Hero seems to testing bigger engines. If everything goes right, we expect tha this new model shall make debut by March 2024 in India. Due to a bigger engine, new design, more features; it'll be positioned somewhere around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom).
