Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been teased yet again by the brand and the hype is only getting stronger. While this timer, the Himalayan has got powerful, more techy, and dons a new paint job, what exactly does the spec sheet look like when it is compared to its ancestor, the current Himalayan with a 411cc powerplant? But how do we tell that? Before its official launch, the specs and all other details are out and we can decipher what it will offer.

Dimensions
Going by the leaked documents, the dimensions have evolved and it now boasts of a bigger footprint. The length has increased by 55mm, breadth by 12mm, and wheelbase by 45mm. However, the height has been lowered a bit to make it easier to access for short riders.

Engine: More Power, More Torque
Evident by its name itself, the Himalayan 450 gets a bigger 450cc engine as compared to the 411cc unit on the previous RE Himalayan. As a result, the power and torque figures have now changed for the better. Check out the detailed comparison between the two in the following chart.

The power is now increased to 40.02 PS from 24.3 PS whereas the torque is now 40Nm, which is 8 Nm more than the current Himalayan. Talking about the gearbox, it is now upgraded to a 6-speed transmission in place of the 5-speed unit on the 411. Fuel tank capacity is now 17 litres on the 450, which is 2 more liters when compared to 411, which ultimately should mean a little more if not almost similar tank-to-tank range (after offsetting the negating effect of a bigger powerplant).
Now, while the front tyres have the same profile and rim size, it is the rear wheel that carries a distinction. The rear tyre is still the same 17 inches, but the profile has now changed from 120/90/17 to 140/80/17. Coming to the braking. both gets disc brakes at either end, but the Himalayan 450 gets a bigger size at 320mm at the front and 270 at the rear.
Himalayan 450: The Most Advanced Royal Enfield Yet !!
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 will offer three variants and multiple paint schemes:
- Base variant: Kaza Brown paint scheme
- Pass variants: Slate Himalayan Salt and Slate Poppy Blue paint schemes
- Summit variants: Hanle Black and Kamet White paint schemes
What sets this motorcycle apart is its unique manually adjustable seat height feature. The standard seat height is 825mm, which can be adjusted to 845mm. If you choose the low seat option, the seat height can be set between 805mm and 825mm, accommodating a wide range of rider heights and body types.
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 embraces modernity with a 4" circular TFT color display screen in its speedometer cluster. While not touchscreen, it can be operated using toggle buttons on the switch gear. The cluster supports smartphone connectivity with media controls and features a map screen layout mirroring Google Maps. The bike also boasts an LED headlamp akin to the Super Meteor 650, LED rear turn indicators integrated with the tail lamp, a 12V 8 AH battery, and a USB Type-C charging socket for a contemporary touch.
Verdict
While the media rides are currently underway in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, the official unveiling will take place at EICMA this year. The price reveal is going to take place sometime after that. With all this said, the official bookings will commence from November 7th, 2023.
