VinFast VF3: Details
The VF3 is a compact little car, with small dimensions that make it look quirky. However, the SUV treatment and the boxy design adds some amount of ruggedness to the overall design. It gets a squared-off bonnet, with a closed-off grille panel. There are no flashy bits here, just two chrome strips running across the panel, and dividing the headlights.
The profile of the VF3 has been designed in such a way that it resembles a certain well-known Japanese off-roader. It's upto you to guess which one. However, this design seems to work rather well, and it also gets 17-inch wheels, featuring alloy rims with aerodynamic treatment. The rear also receives similar treatment as the front of the car, with a black panel in the middle, and two chrome strips running along dividing the small tail lights.
Underneath the quirky looks, the VF3 packs a single electric motor driving power to the rear wheels. Producing 39.4bhp and 110Nm of torque, VinFast says the VF3 can cover a 0-50kmph run in 5.3 seconds. The battery pack is an 18.94kWh unit which can be charged from 10-70% in a claimed 36 minutes via a fast charger. However, regular charging times remain unspecified for now.
Not much is known about the features list at the moment, but the VF3 comes with a 10-inch infotainment screen and manual A/C controls. It also gets two seats at the rear, and VinFast says that with the seats folded down, the VF3 gets 285 litres of storage-carrying capacity. The car maker also says the VF3 can carry upto 50kg of luggage on its roof.

Verdict
The VF3 is a compact car that is just marginally bigger and gets a slightly longer wheelbase than the MG Comet. We can expect it to be priced similarly, and it will be interesting to see how this new brand performs.
