Volkswagen India has unveiled the ID.4 officially in the Indian market at the brand's annual conference. The brand has revealed the ID.4 as the first EV from Volkswagen in India. Volkswagen ID.4 EV
The ID.4 EV was shown to the Indian last year as well but that was the GTX version, this time the brand has shown the standard version of the EV. The ID.4 comes with a cross over design language. The ID.4 will be brought in India as a completely built-up unit which will make it bit costly. The brand has not yet revealed the the timeline and the price segment they are going to launch it in.
The ID.4 comes with a curvaceous front profile. Built on the brand's MEB platform the EV will boast two drivetrain options one with a single motor RWD setup and one AWD setup with dual-motor. The India will now get the APP550 motor which will power the rear wheels and will generate more power of 280 bhp and over 540 NM of torque. With better battery optimisation the updated version will give around 556 km of range.
On the features front, it gets a floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone climate control, power adjustable seats, ambient lighting, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof and more.

Volkswagen ID.4 Launch & Rivals
The ID.4 is expected to be launched by the end of this year. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 50 lakh to 60 lakh (ex-showroom) due to its import as CBU. It will compete with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the KIA EV6 in the Indian market.
Verdict
The Volkswagen ID.4 will be the kickstart of brand's EV journey in the Indian market. The brand will assess the market scenario with the launch of the ID.4. Depending on the demand and adoption rate, the brand may introduce new EVs to the Indian market.
