Apart from the 50,000 unit milestone, Volkswagen says it has also sold over 17,000 units of the Virtus in 2024 till now. The German car maker further adds that it crossed the 6.5 lakh domestic sales milestone in Q3 2024. The India 2.0 cars, which includes the Virtus and Taigun, contributed nearly 18.5% to domestic sales volumes.
On the Virtus selling 50,000 units in just 28 months, Ashish Gupta, CEO, Volkswagen India, said " We are immensely grateful to all our customers for making the Volkswagen Virtus Indias No.1 selling premium sedan. The Virtus continues to resonate strongly with our customers, and crossing the 50 000 sales mark is a testament to the product's success in the Indian market, making it Indias most loved premium sedan. Ever since its launch, we have sold nearly 60 Virtus sedans every day, and we are glad that Virtus has carved its own cult following, as it continues to sustain the sales momentum, despite headwinds in its segment.

VW Virtus: What Makes It Popular?
One of the reasons for the popularity of the VW Virtus has to be the way it looks. It is a proper, three-box mid-size sedan which looks genuinely good. It looks well-proportioned, the design is typically VW; understated, yet stylish, and it will age well over time like most VWs do.
The Virtus also happens to be among the more engaging cars to drive in its segment. With the MQB-A0-IN platform and chassis shared with the Taigun, the Virtus possesses the same dynamic driving capabilities. It stays firm and planted at higher speeds, and the steering feedback from the car is great as well, proving itself as a corner carving machine.
Unlike most other sedans, the Virtus also comes with a rather high ground clearance, which means you can drive it with lesser chances of scraping its underbelly.
While the Virtus does miss out on ADAS, a panoramic sunroof and a few other features, it still offers just about enough for buyers to consider it as an option, such as wireless smartphone connectivity, a wireless charging pad, keyless entry, automatic headlamps with follow-me function, hill-hold control, front ventilated seats with power adjustability, and tyre deflation warning among other things.
Verdict
The VW Virtus has been the same since its debut in 2022, and its facelift is due sometime next year. The Virtus has its strengths and flaws, and if you are someone who loves to drive, this is what you should be looking at.
