Despite its local assembly models being hit with long waiting periods, Mercedes Benz India has managed to keep the production of its popular models up to speed.
Mercedes Benz India recently launched a slew of super-luxury cars, including the new top-of-the-line S-Class sedans and SUVs. Both the GLS SUV and S-Class Maybach S 580 have the longest waiting period in the brands line-up at 11 months and 4 months, respectively. Both the Mercs represent the epitome of luxury and both are sold as Completely Knocked Down Units (CKD) in India.
Other SUVs with the longest waiting period include the entry-level GLA (4-5 months), and the GLE (4 months). The standard S-class also has a waiting period of between 3-4 months. However, its popular models like the A-Class limousine, and E-class sedan has shorter waiting period between 2-3 months. Even the GLC SUV is on this list with a waiting period between 1-2 months.

As per the German automaker, their range of super luxury, and AMG cars currently occupy 35% of the portfolio. This expansion happened in the period between 2021-2022. As far as sales figures go, the GLC has been their best-selling car, and it continues to remain so. Followed by the A-class and S-class sedans. Mercedes Benz India recorded the most number of sales in the third quarter of 2021, despite its supply chain issues due to the pandemic.
Mercedes Benz will also launch their new Retail of the Future purchase model this year. It will allow manufacturers to directly sell to their customers. Currently, Mercedes has 13 models in its line-up. Further new models are awaiting launch this year as well. This includes the next-generation C-class, the AMG GT Black Series supercar.

The company has also launched its EQ series of electric vehicles, and the EQC is currently available here in India. The luxurious and top-of-the-line EQS is awaiting launch this year. The EQS has one of the most aerodynamically friendly designs, which helps put less stress on the battery, thereby extrapolating more range.
