Yamaha FZ-S FI Hybrid

Last Updated On 27th Jan'25: The 2025 Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid is a modern commuter motorcycle built for efficiency and convenience. Featuring hybrid assist technology, it uses a 149cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) for improved fuel efficiency and refined performance. Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2025, it targets riders seeking a balance of practicality and innovation. 

Design: The Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid continues its iconic muscular streetfighter styling with subtle updates to accommodate its new hybrid technology. Its robust build, sharp tank shrouds and sporty aesthetics ensure it stands out as a premium commuter motorcycle. The bike is equipped with LED headlight and sleek body panels that further enhance its visual appeal and maintains the aggressive stance that the FZ lineup is known for.

Power and Performance: At its core, the Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid is powered by a 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine paired with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). This combination enhances power delivery and fuel efficiency while providing the added benefit of hybrid assist for smoother starts and increased mileage. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox, ensuring refined and versatile performance.

Features: The FZ-S Hybrid gets modern features such as an LCD instrument cluster displaying essential information such as speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, gear position indicator and clock. It also offers smartphone connectivity enabling call/SMS alerts and music controls. Additional features include traction control,new switchgear, a silent starter and an automatic start/stop system for enhanced convenience and efficiency. However, the bike misses out on turn-by-turn navigation.

Hardware: The Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid rides on a sturdy frame supported by a 41mm telescopic front fork and a 7-step preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear, ensuring a comfortable and controlled ride. Braking is handled by a 282mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc. The braking hardware is complemented by single-channel ABS for added safety. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with 100-section front and 140-section rear tubeless tyres that offer excellent grip and stability.

Launch and Price: Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2025, the Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid is expected to hit the market later this year. While pricing details are yet to be announced, it is anticipated to be competitively priced in our market to stay competitive in the segment.

Rivals: Although the Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid doesn’t have a direct competitor with hybrid technology, it faces competition from premium 150-160cc commuters like the Bajaj Pulsar N160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, Hero Xtreme 160R, Honda SP160 and Yamaha FZ-S FI V4. Its innovative hybrid system and feature-rich package position it as a standout option in the segment.
