Pros & Cons of Yamaha FZS 25
Yamaha FZS 25 Detailed Review
The FZS is primarily influenced by the company's flagship FZ-1, which results in a lot of powerful lines that are contrasted with bizarre cues like the tank fairings, knuckle guards, and smoked-out flyscreen. Nothing, of course, draws the eye quite like the headlamp configuration that combines a bare LED projector and a vertically stacked DRL. Around the engine, there is a false skid plate that contributes to the FZ's distinctive butch appearance. Hence, the design of the FZS 25 makes the rider feel that he/she is riding a big bike. All thanks to the aesthetics from Yamaha's design team.
Summary
The FZS scores well in the looks department. The bike carries the scaled down looks of the FZ-1 flagship rather smartly .
FZS 25 body specifications:
Seat Height | 795 mm |
Weight | 148 kg |
Wheel Size | 17 inch inch |
Fuel Tank Capacity | 14 liters |
The 249cc, two-valve engine is an absolute jewel for navigating city traffic. Even when you are in a year or two higher, the motor can pull smoothly at 2,000 rpm. Overtaking is simple due to the abundance of low- and mid-range oomph. However, the clutch is a little bit heavy. The engine's highway capabilities are restricted, especially given its top speed of 129kmph. As the rev range increases, the engine starts to feel a little harsh. The five-speed transmission could utilize a sixth gear. This engine is capable of cruising at good highway speeds upwards of 85 kmph easily.
Summary
Engine works the best at city speeds. Lack of gears along with a poor top end make it not so suitable for highway runs.
FZS 25 engine specifications:
Mileage | 39 kmpl |
Engine Displacement | 249 cc |
Top Speed | 134 kmph |
Power | 20.8PS @ 8000 rpm |
Torque | 20 Nm @ 6000 rpm |
The bike is agile due to its 1360mm short wheelbase and light front end. When navigating through traffic, the broad handlebar and slightly forward-set riding position provide you with more control. Additionally, the overall height of the FZS 25 remains high-set and hence it might become a little bit problematic for the short riders to maneuver it during tight traffic conditions.
Summary
Small dimensions make the FZS 25 a breeze to ride. Coupled with upright ergonomics and it becomes a very beginner friendly bike .
FZS 25 body specifications:
Seat Height | 795 mm |
Weight | 148 kg |
Wheel Size | 17 inch inch |
Fuel Tank Capacity | 14 liters |
The front suspension of the FZS is telescopic, and the rear suspension is monoshock-style connected. This arrangement gives the best of both worlds and is a beautiful blend of harsh and soft elements. On rough roads, it feels soft, and while turning into corners, it feels quite supportive. The diamond frame chassis is well-tuned and provides an abundance of input.
The FZS has two-disc brakes: a front 282 mm disc and a rear 220 mm disc. There is a lot of stopping power in these brakes. At 160 mm, ground clearance is going to be sufficient for the most part. The brakes on the FZS 25 works brilliantly and give the rider confidence to do high-speed runs efficiently.
Summary
Brakes and suspension are one of the best in the segment. Ride and handling have a perfect balance and the brakes inspire a lot of confidence.
