The Yamaha YZF R15S V3 is one of the most desirable and competent entry-level sports bikes in India. The popularity of this bike is so high, that Yamaha decided to keep selling the V3 along with the V4 variants of the R15. The Yamaha YZF R15S V3 is based on the V3 R15 directly but with slight changes to the body and ergonomics to make it lie underneath the R15 V4 in the product lineup. The overall design is mostly similar and hence it looks amazingly attractive. The striking looks of an aggressive super sports bike resume on the Yamaha YZF R15S V3 too. The main changes to the design include a single-seat rather than a split-seat setup of the V4. Also, the ergonomics have been tuned a bit towards comfort as the buyers who look for this, mainly do the city riding. Apart from this, most of the design elements such as the lighting, body panels, instrument panel, and even the hardware remain the same as that of the V3. However, the design of the R15S V3 has started to grow older. Even the customers show less interest in it due to the presence of the updated V4 generation of the R15.

The R15 has always been a fun-to-ride beginner track bike since its launch and the Yamaha YZF R15S V3 is no different than its ancestors. Equipped with a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine; it produces a peak power output of 18 hp and 14.1 Nm of peak torque. This high power is delivered to the rear wheel via a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. The use of a slipper-assist clutch makes the power delivery more seamless. The performance of the Yamaha YZF R15S V3 is ballistic as compared to the segment rivals. The dynamics are mind-blowing as the chassis and the engine outshines the bikes even of a segment above. The amazing fact is that the engine of the V3 makes slightly more power when compared to the R15 V4. Additionally, the top-end performance is more strong on this engine.

Well, the Yamaha YZF R15S V3 does come with amazing tyre and brake combinations as well. Yamaha engineers have equipped the Yamaha YZF R15S V3 with a 100/80-17 front tyre and a 140/70-17 rear tyre combination. This combination help make the handling of the bike sharp as a knife on the road. Additionally, Yamaha has equipped the YZF R15S V3 with a 282 mm single-disc brake with BYBRE caliper at the front and a 200 mm single-disc brake at the rear with a BYBRE caliper. This braking system is further connected via a dual-channel ABS that helps the YZF R15S V3 stop at a short distance even at triple-digit speeds. The overall ride and handling is much benefited via the amazing combination of tyres and brakes setup on the R15S V3.

The overall dimensions of the Yamaha YZF R15S V3 are more or less the same as that of the regular R15 V3 sports motorcycle. The reason is the usage of the same mechanicals and engine. Speaking of the dimensions, the Yamaha YZF R15S V3 has a length of 1990 mm which makes it shorter than the commuter bikes in India. This helps in increasing the handling precision. The height is 1135 mm. Also, the seat height is 815 mm which makes it a bit uncomfortable for the short-height riders to use the Yamaha YZF R15S V3 during peak traffic hours or on congested roads. Thanks to the 170 mm of ground clearance, the Yamaha YZF R15S V3 easily crosses the obstacles and broken roads of Indian traffic. The fuel tank capacity is 11 liters which might look less on paper but the good fuel economy helps make up for the less storage in the fuel tank of the Yamaha YZF R15S V3.
