PROS

Honda Amaze CNG

1. Reliable Mechanics With Good Mileage

The Honda Amaze compact sedan comes with a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts out 90PS power@6000 rpm with a peak torque of 1110 Nm @4800 rpm. This engine from Honda has proven its reliable and efficient nature over time and has come out as one of its strongest suit. While the claimed mileage stands at 18.3 kmpl for the automatic and 18.6 kmpl for the manual, and in real life, gets you somewhere between 13-14 kmpl, which is a good enough economy in daily usage.

2. Biggest Boot In The Segment

If you have a long family weekend coming in, the Honda Amaze will not disappoint you as it gets the biggest boot in the segment. The 420-liter cargo space feels massive and engulfs everything that's thrown at it ( not literally!). On the flip side, the Hyundai Aura comes a close second with 408 litres, and the Maruti Dzire comes third with 378 litres.

3. Decent Feature List

While the Amaze doesn't offer anything too shiny out of the box, it comes with a decent set of practical features list including features like projector LED headlamps, Cruise control, LED fog lamps, paddle shifters with CVT, automatic climate control a 7-inch touchscreen, and more. You will find these features to be useful in daily life and nothing is redundant.

4. 10-Year Warranty- First In Segment

Another testament to its solid build and quality is the first-in-segment 10-year warranty being offered by Honda. While this gets you peace of mind for a long time, it also showcases the belief that Honda has in the quality of its models.

CONS

1. The Engine Feels Lacklusture

The petrol engine a decent performer and churns out a good mileage, but lacks that drivability fun when pushed. It sometimes struggles to pick up the pedal feedback and feels a little sluggish picking up the pace, especially while maneuvering overtakes. However, if you have a laidback driving style, you will be just fine. Just don't expect too much zoom from this mill.

2. Missing Features

While the Amaze offers a decent set of features, it still misses out on a few feel-good features and could have been equipped with modern amenities like a sunroof, factory-fitted wireless charger ( currently comes as a no-cost plug-in type accessory), a 360-degree camera, and a few more.

3. No Rear AC Vents And Adjustable Headrests

2021 Honda Amaze facelift vs old model

If the rearseat is the place where you spend most of your time, you may feel like it hasn't been given due attention. You get fixed headrests for the back seats which could be uncomfortable if it does not sit according to your comfort. Not only this, you also miss out on rear AC vents, which in today's time, should have been included.

4. No Cruise Control With CVT

The Cruise control has been limited to just the Manual variants and the CVT does not come with a cruise control. This is a big-time miss as even with the top-spec VX CVT priced at Rs. 9.86 lakhs ex-showroom, you don't get this must-have basic feature, especially on long highway rides.

Verdict

This compact sedan from Honda scores well in some areas whil elacking in others. But keeping ther price point in mind, it comes out as a balanced proposotion, with room for something more. However, the 2024 Honda Amaze facelift has begun testing in India and will launch by December 2024. This update is expected to be a techy upgrade with a lot of the current shortcomings expected to be countered as well.
