Mercedes-Benz EQA Vs BMW iX1 - Design & Dimensions
The newly launched Mercedes-Benz EQA is the electric iteration of the GLA SUV and it gets a similar design language. The EQA boasts some EV-specific changes, it gets a closed front grille with 3-star elements on it, connected LED DRLs, and LED headlamps, and an updated bumper design with air vents at the front for better air intake for the battery pack cooling. The side profile gets a new design for the alloy wheels and the rear also gets a connected LED tail lamp similar to the EQB.
If we talk about the design of the BMW iX1, is the electric iteration of the BMW X1 SUV and boasts a similar design layout with some EV-specific changes. The front profile gets a similar layout as the ICE version, it gets signature BMW styling with a slatted grille, 18-inch M light alloy wheels, squared-off wheel arches, a sloping roofline, and L-shaped LED tail lamps at the rear.

In terms of dimensions, the BMW iX1 holds an edge over the EQA with more length and height, along with a 150-litre larger boot space. The Mercedes-Benz EQA on the other hand has a slightly longer wheelbase which is longer by 37 mm.

The interior of both EVs speaks about luxury and an abundance of features. Starting with the Mercedes-Benz EQA, it gets a dual-zone climate control, a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment and a similar sized instrument cluster, ambient lighting, 12 speaker Burmester music system, head-up display, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, a panoramic sunroof, MBUX operating system with navigation support, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among other features. If we look at the numbers, the BMW iX1 comes with a smaller battery pack but offers 90 kW more power and 109 Nm more torque as compared to the Mercedes-Benz EQA. Also, the BMW iX1 boasts higher top speed and quick acceleration along with quick charging time for both DC & AC charging.
Verdict
The newly launched Mercedes-Benz EQA is Rs 90,000 cheaper than the BMW iX1 and offers a bigger battery pack and more range. However, the BMW iX1 offers more exihalirated performance with better acceleration, more power and more torque. The BMW iX1 also boasts quick charging time which will significantly help you on long trips. For the convenience and safety features both the electric SUVs offers almost similar features.
