The list provided by FADA includes 12 car companies, of which 11 are identified, and one company sold 23 units in January. This might be a private player, though FADA has not disclosed its name. Among these 11 automakers, Tata Motors claimed the number one spot, selling 5,047 units. The Tata.ev brand continues to grow stronger with each passing month. Compared to December 2024, Tata Motors saw a boost of exactly 1,000 additional units sold. However, their year-on-year (YOY) growth has slowed, as 5,802 units were sold in January 2024. Lastly, the Tata Punch.ev remains the best-selling vehicle in their electric lineup.

MG Motor India turned the EV game upside down by launching the Windsor EV in September 2024. As per several auto experts and monthly sales reports, the Windsor EV has captured the Tata Nexon.ev market share, and it's hard to deny that fact. Plus, their year-on-year growth has been accounted for at 252%. To add more, in January 2025, they sold 4,237 units, which is 594 units more than their December 2024 sales. Currently, MG has three EVs in the lineup - Windsor EV, Comet EV, and ZS EV. In the upcoming months, they are planning to launch the Cyberster and M9.
Hyundai Motor

Hyundai, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, launched their much-awaited Creta EV at a starting price of Rs 17.99 lakh. This is the second electric vehicle in their lineup, which is why the month-on-month (MoM) percentage growth of this South Korean automaker is the best - a whopping 1,589.47% in January 2025. To be specific, 321 units were sold in this month, and this is entirely due to the Creta EV, as only 19 units of the Ioniq 5 were sold in December. In February, we expect even better growth, as the Creta brand is one of the strongest in the country and holds a very special place.

Verdict
This is great news for the EV segment as the government is also pushing it, plus promoting it non-stop. Even the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 was all about EVs, and hardly 4 to 5 ICE vehicles were launched. Other than these automakers, BYD, Mercedes, and Mahindra also witnessed good sales. Let's see how big it grows by the next month.
