With the BS6 emission norms coming into action, Hero MotoCorp introduced the BS6 compliant Super Splendor 125 in India. The 2020 Hero Super Splendor 125 BS6 is available in two variants and the prices start from Rs 67,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi). In addition to the BS6 complaint engine, the bike does get a number of other upgrades. Let's see if the 2020 Hero Super Splendor 125 is good enough to be called the best in the premium commuter segment.
What all has changed?
The 2020 Super Splendor 125 BS6 now gets fuel injection with XSens technology. The power output from the engine stands at 10.73 bhp, which is around 19 percent more than the outgoing model. The torque output too has gone yp by 0.3 Nm as the current peak torque figures stand at 10.6 Nm. In addition, this engine now comes mated to a five-speed transmission as against the 4-speed on the outgoing model.
Other changes include the incorporation of i3S idle start-stop system, a new diamond frame chassis that replaces the older double-cradle unit, and an increase in ground clearance by 30 mm. Moreover, the bike also tweaked suspension with better travel which give the bike a great ride and handling balance.

Engine, Gearbox, And Fuel Economy
A 125 cc BS6 complaint comes as standard in the new Super Splendor. The power output of this engine stands at 10.73 bhp @ 7500 RPM and while the maximum peak torque is rated to be 10.6 Nm @ 6000 RPM. A 5-speed unit comes mated to this engine. This new gearbox is smooth, and the gear ratios are almost perfect to make it a great bike for city travel.
The Super Splendor delivers around 60 kmpl, which is decent considering the power output of the vehicle. The low-end grunt of this engine is great and getting off the line is a smooth and easy affair. The XSens Technology aids in the overall driveability of the bike and the power output is much better now. Fuel injection further adds to the peppy response from the throttle.

Ride, Handling, And Suspension
The Super Splendor has always been a comfortable bike ever since the launch. But with the 2020 update, the bike gets even better as the company has introduced a new diamond frame chassis and reworked suspension. The seat too is longer by 45 mm and the ground clearance has gone up to 180 mm. The suspension travel at the front has increased by 14 percent while there is a 10 percent increase in the rear suspension travel.
On the braking front, the base variant of the bike gets disc brakes at front and drum brakes at the rear. On the other hand, the top variant gets a dual disc brake setup. Both the variants come with Combined Braking System (CBS) for better braking performance. The bike stays stable at normal speeds but the soft suspension takes a toll on the high-speed stability and driving dynamics.
Looks
Cosmetically, there are not many changes made to the bike. However, the Super Splendor now gets a new dual-tone paint scheme with new graphics and chrome elements. In addition to the three colour scheme - Glaze Black, heavy Grey, and Candy Blazing Red - the bike also gets a new metallic Nexus Blue paint scheme. With these upgrades, the Super Splendor looks elegant and subtle, without any aggressive elements being added to the overall design.
