MG Gloster is an enormous SUV! It measures 4985 mm in length, 1926 mm in width and 1867 mm in height. The SUV sits on a wheelbase of 2950 mm and has a massive ground clearance of 210 mm. All thanks to its macho styling and sheer dimensions, the Gloster has a great road presence. It gets 343-litres of boot space too (with all three-row seats up).

MG Gloster is a very powerful SUV and it has the most powerful engine in its class. It gets two BS6-compliant diesel engines. Firstly, it gets a 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel engine that churns out 163 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 375 Nm of peak torque between 1500-2400 RPM. Then, we have the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that churns out a massive 218 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 480 Nm of peak torque between 1500-2400 RPM. Both these oil-burners come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. But, the single-turbo diesel motor gets a 2WD system (rear-wheel drive) while the twin-turbo motor gets an on-demand Intelligent 4-wheel drive system.

2020 MG Gloster BS6 Price

MG Motors launched the Gloster at an introductory starting price of Rs. 28.98 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. Now, its prices have been hiked by up to 1 lakh rupees but even after the price hike, it undercuts its arch-rivals. The price of the MG Gloster now starts at Rs. 29.98 lakhs and it goes up to Rs. 35.58 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. Have a look at its new variant-wise prices:

VariantPrice

Sharp (Twin-Turbo Diesel - 7 Seater)Rs. 33.98 lakhs

Savvy (Twin-Turbo Diesel - 6 Seater)Rs. 35.58 lakhs

Cons

Engine-Gearbox Combination Not The Best

As already mentioned before, MG Gloster two BS6-compliant diesel engine options. However, both these mills come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. The engine-gearbox combination of the Gloster is not the best in its segment. This new 8-speed automatic transmission doesn't offer you a spirited driving experience. It slightly lags on twisties and takes a bit to downshift while doing quick spirited overtakes. Also, the throttle response is slightly lazy but the Gloster isn't made for doing drag race, it is a lounge on wheels and it excels in offering a premium experience to buyers.

Laggy Touchscreen

MG Gloster gets a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with all sorts of connectivity features you can expect in a car. However, this large touchscreen isn't very fluidic to use and it sometimes misses out the touch response. That been said, these minor glitches might be fixed in due course of time by OTA or over-the-air updates.

360-degree Camera's Resolution Could Have Been Better

The Gloster gets a host of features. It gets front and rear parking sensors along with a 360-degree parking camera. This 360-degree parking camera gives you a good all-round view of the surroundings but we would have loved if the resolution of the 360-degree camera would have been slightly better.

Average Mileage

MG Gloster's ARAI-claimed mileage for the BS6-compliant 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine is 12.35 kmpl. The ARAI-claimed mileage for the less powerful 2.0-litre single turbo diesel motor isn't out yet. Though the twin-turbo oil-burner has an ARAI-claimed mileage of 12.35 kmpl, in real-world conditions, it will deliver around 6-7 kmpl of mileage in city and around 9-10 kmpl of mileage on the highways. Thus, you can expect around 750 kilometres of range on the highways as the fuel tank capacity is 75-litres.
