Toyota has announced a price hike for its flagship SUV, the Toyota Fortuner in the country. The carmaker updated the line-up with BS6 compliant engines not long ago and has now hiked the prices by Rs 48,000 across all the variants in the Fortuner line-up. While the company did not cite any reasons for the price hike, it is believed that the price hike comes as a measure to recover the losses incurred to the Japanese carmaker due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic. After this hike, the 2020 Toyota Fortuner BS6 Price starts from Rs 28.66 lakh for the base, 4X2 MT petrol variant while the range-topping 4X4 AT Diesel is priced at Rs 34.43 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

Engine, Transmission and Fuel Economy
The 2020 Toyota Fortuner BS6 gets two engine options which include 2.7-L petrol and a 2.8-L diesel engine. Talking about the petrol engine first, the power and torque output figures for this engine stands at 163.7 bhp and 245 Nm respectively. The petrol engine comes mated to a 5-Speed MT or a 6-Speed AT. The 2.8-L diesel engine powering the Fortuner BS6 churns out 175 bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options for this engine include a 6-Speed MT or a 6-Speed AT.
Moving to the 2020 Ford Endeavour now, this ladder-on-frame SUV is powered by a 2.0-L EcoBlue Diesel engine which churns out 167.6 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to the world's first 10-Speed AT and can be had in 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrain options. The fuel economy of the 4X2 is claimed to be 13.9 kmpl while the 4X4 variant gets a claimed fuel economy of 12.7 kmpl.
The 2020 Mahindra Alturas G4 is powered by a 2.2-L diesel engine which churns out 178.49 bhp and 420 NM of maximum torque. The Mahindra Alturas G4 is only available with a 7-Speed AT and gets 4X2 and 4X4 models to choose from. The claimed fuel economy for the car is around 12 kmpl.
