2021 Hero Maestro Edge Connect - Pros

Design

The 2021 Hero Maestro Edge 125 Connect boasts a significantly updated design. The silhouette might have remained the same, but it manages to look fresh and up-to-date, as well. This is evident from the stylish dual-tone decals, headlamp cluster with twin projection LED headlights, diamond-cut alloy wheels, along vibrant color options. This might not be the most radical design available in the market, but it definitely looks jazzier than the likes of the Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa 125.

Features

2021 Hero Maestro Edge 125 Instrument Cluster

The new Maestro Edge 125 Connect gets quite the list of comfort and convenience enhancing features. Starting off the list with a new semi-digital instrument cluster that gets you Bluetooth connectivity option, which further gets features Live Tracking, Geo-Fence alert, Parking locator, Google maps, Topple Alert, and more.  Theres also an under-seat LED lamp, along with a USB charger port, and an external fuel filler cap.

Ride Quality

2021 Hero Maestro Edge 125

The overall ride quality of the Maestro Edge 125 Connect is pretty decent. Although the suspension settings seem to be on the firmer side, it doesnt feel out righteously uncomfortable on rougher surfaces. This is smoothened out by the new telescopic front fork suspension that evens out the impact very thoroughly. All in all, the Hero Maestro 125 Connect delivers predictable handling, aided by good grip from its tires.

Performance

The torque motor of the new Hero Maestro Edge 125 Connect is one of the most exciting power units available. The 125 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine produces 9.2 Bhp@7,000 rpm and 10.4 Nm of torque@ 5,000 RPM. Right from the twist of the throttle, the upgraded Maestro Edge has a good grunt of the line, coupled with a healthy midrange power delivery.

As a result, the new Maestro Edge feels quite effortless to ride in the city with enough grunt to not get bogged down in stop-and-go traffic situations. Coupled with the fact that the motor definitely feels more refined than its earlier iterations, the Maestro Edges performance is certainly not disappointing.

Comfort

Last but not the least, is its comfort. Coupled with a comfortable ride quality are also the large dimensions of the scooter. Starting off with the bigger comfortable one-piece seat, which feels neither too stiff nor over cushioned. The roomy floorboard gives you enough space to store luggage, and also find a comfortable riding position. The handlebars are equally comfortably placed that aids for an upright riding position.

Having stated the five pros of the Maestro Edge 125 Connect, lets find out the three cons of the new scooter:

2021 Hero Maestro Edge Connect -Cons

Styling

Since the new Maestro Edge 125 Connect does not see any radical shift in the styling as such, previous owners will not feel much different. The new scooter still looks the part, as the first Maestro Edge that debuted in 2015. Despite the updated side panels, front cowl, head panel, and taillamp, the scooter continues to look familiar.

Pricing

The updated 2021 Hero Maestro Edge 125 Connect is available in three variants. The base drum variant is priced at Rs. 73,200, followed by the disc brake variant priced at Rs. 77,900. Finally, the top-of-the-line Connect variant (the one that we have reviewed above) is priced at Rs. 81,900.  In these price ranges, the 2021 Maestro Edge does not undercut its competition, but it is definitely on par. For reference, both the TVS Ntorq 125 and Honda Activa 125 start from Rs. 73,270 and Rs. 74,157, respectively.

Braking

The 2021 Hero Maestro Edge 125 Connect gets disc brakes as standard seemed to lack the grip that it needs to stop the scooter. This is because, with the torque motor, it is quite easy to reach triple-digit speeds in a short distance. Thus bringing the 118 kg scooter to a halt becomes a bit of a task. The integrated braking system does work hand-in-hand, but at times it does get a bit nerve-wracking between pulling the brake lever and actually coming to a stop.
