Kia Motors entered the Indian market in 2019 and so far, has enjoyed astonishing success in the country. This South Korean car manufacturer made its debut in the Indian market with the Seltos SUV and received a very overwhelming response. The Seltos broke all the previous records of the Indian Automotive Industry and achieved new milestones. Six months down the lane, Kia launched its second product in India, the Carnival MPV. The Kia Carnival is a Premium MPV and it re-ignited the life of the MPV segment in India. And now, Kia Motors has unveiled the all-new 2021 Kia Carnival Premium MPV in its home country, South Korea. So, what's new in the 2021 Carnival and will it come to India?
The Kia Carnival which is currently on sale in India is the facelift version of the third-generation Carnival. The third-gen Carnival has been on sale in the Global markets since 2014. Now, the fourth-generation Kia Carnival has been unveiled in Kia's home market, South Korea. It is worth mentioning that the Carnival is also sold as Kia Sedona in some international markets. This new fourth-generation Kia Carnival has been unveiled in a completely fresh avatar. It boasts of a completely new design language and as of now, only the exterior images have been revealed. The latest iteration of the Kia Carnival is dubbed as a 'Grand Utility Vehicle.'
Talking about the design of the vehicle, so one can see that it gets a new sharp front bumper with skid plates and it also gets a long hood which gives it an upright stance. Upfront, it gets Kia's signature tiger-nose grille but the design of the grille is completely revised. It gets a criss-cross pattern on the grille with rhombus-shaped elements and chrome detailing. The grille is flanked by new split headlamps which have a very slim layout. The headlamps are an all-LED unit and it also gets long daytime running LEDs.

The side profile of the 2021 Carnival houses new multi-spoke alloy wheels and it features a unique island roof design. It gets blacked-out A, B and C pillars and the C-pillar also gets some aluminium inserts that runs all the way till the rear. Also, like the current-gen Carnival, the new-gen model too gets electric sliding doors which aid in ingress and egress of the passengers. At the rear, it gets a new sporty bumper with an aluminium skid plate. The rear tailgate is also new and it gets a slim LED taillamp with LED strips that join both the ends. The new-gen Carnival also gets functional roof-rails and a shark-fin antenna. Overall, it has a butch design language and looks more like an SUV than an MPV.
As mentioned before, the interiors of the new-gen Carnival haven't been revealed but it will get a slew of changes. Recently, its interior was spied and will feature a new twin-screen layout and black & beige dual-tone interior. Like the current-gen Carnival, it will also be proffered in multiple seating configurations. The Premium MPV will also get a big touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It will also get Kia's UVO connected car technology, three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof and a host of safety features like up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors with 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESP) and more.
Globally, the Kia Carnival is offered with two engine options: a 2.2-litre oil-burner and a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Currently, the India-spec Kia Carnival is powered by a BS6-compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine that churns out 200 PS of power and a whopping 440 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and the ARAI-certified fuel economy is rated at 13.9 kmpl. Currently, the India-spec Kia Carnival is priced between Rs. 24.95 lakhs - Rs. 33.95 lakhs, Ex-showroom. The new-gen 2021 Kia Carnival is expected to be launched in India in 2022 and not anytime before that.
