The retro-styled motorcycles are becoming very popular in recent times not just in India but in the global markets too. Yamaha's XSR series is a popular retro series in the global markets and now the XSR series gets its youngest family member. Yamaha Motor Company has recently revealed the new 2021 Yamaha XSR 125 and in this article, we tell you everything about it.
The new 2021 Yamaha XSR 125 has been recently revealed internationally and it will be launched in the European markets in June 2021. The new XSR 125 shares its mechanicals and underpinnings with the Yamaha R125 and the MT 125. The R125 and the MT 125 are already on sale in Europe. Now, if we talk about its powertrain, so the new XSR 125 is powered by a Euro 5 compliant 124cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, SOHC, four-stroke engine.
This motor churns out 14.7 PS of maximum power at 10,000 RPM and 11.5 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and it gets fuel injection too. Talking about hardware bits, for suspension duties the XSR 125 gets USD forks at the front and a mono-shock absorber at the rear. The braking duties on the retro motorcycle are performed by disc brakes at either end and it gets dual-channel ABS too. It gets an all-digital instrument cluster too as a circular dial for retro appeal.
The new 2021 Yamaha XSR 125 has been currently revealed for Europe and other global markets. It is not expected to be launched in India but we wish Yamaha launches it here too with some India-specific changes as it can turn out to be a worthy rival to the KTM Duke 125. At present, the company is planning to soon launch the new Yamaha FZ-X in India. What are your thoughts on the new XSR 125?
