Hyundai Creta has always been one of the top-selling SUVs in the Indian market. The newer generation got launched in 2020, right before the first lockdown happened and in no time, it beat its cousin, Kia Seltos, in sales by a good margin. Fast forward to 2022, Hyundai plans to bring the Creta facelift to the market and here's a video that showcases how the base model E will look like.
As can be seen here, the front fascia now gets a distinct look from the ongoing Creta. The grille is now enlarged and gets a U-shaped styling that merges well with the headlights. Also, the parametric jewel theme on the grille looks elegant. Unlike the current model that has LED daytime running lights with the headlights, this facelifted model has a separate section on the upper part of the bumper.
The placement of projector headlights have now gone lower than before and one can see indicators right below it. This specific model is for the Indonesian market and you can see the faux skid plates too. However, the base E variant of the Creta does not come with this highlight.
Moving to the side profile, there won't be big changes as such and it'll get the 16-inch steel wheels and monotone exterior colour options. The higher variants sit on 17-inch alloys and also get dual-tone shade schemes. The story remains similar at the rear also as there are hardly any changes. What's interesting is that even the base variant gets black cladding all around the body and we're hoping that the E variant will be equipped with turn indicators on the ORVM.
Jumping on the inside of Creta's base variant, it gets a smaller touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cabin gets a single-tone black colour scheme and fabric upholstery instead of the leatherette as found in the top-spec variants.
The facelifted version of Creta does not get as many changes on the inside as it gets on the outside. However, do expect top-spec variants to get features like ADAS, digital instrument cluster, lane assist and more. The facelifted Creta will definitely be rich in terms of features.
Mechanically, nothing will be changed and it'll continue with three engine options. The 1.4L turbo petrol will be the strongest that churns out 138 bhp with 242 Nm of peak torque. Then there will be a 1.5L non-turbo petrol unit that generates 113 bhp with 144 Nm of maximum torque. The 1.5L oil burner is a four-cylinder, turbocharged unit that gets the same power as 1.5L petrol but the peak torque sticks at 250 Nm.
All these engines are paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. For the automatic, the diesel gets a 6-speed torque converter, 1.4L turbo petrol settles with 7-speed DCT as an option and the 1.5L petrol gets paired to an IVT.
So how do you like the 2022 Hyundai Creta Facelift base model? Will you pick this or extend your budget to get the top-spec SX(O) variant that'll be loaded with features? Do let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
