After several spy shots caught on Indian roads and multiple teaser videos, the wait is finally over as Mahindra plans to bring the all-new 2022 Scorpio on June 27. In this article, we share with you the top 5 things that are new about the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio.
Features Loaded To The Brim
Unlike the current model, this new Scorpio will be pretty equipped. It'll get features like an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, power-folding ORVMs, LED projector headlights, C-shaped LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, cruise control and among others.
Powerful Diesel Engine and A New Petrol Motor
Powering the new Scorpio will be two motors - a 2.2L mHawk diesel and a 2.0L Stallion petrol motor. This latest model of the Scorpio will be the first to receive a petrol motor. It is the same as XUV700 but will churn out less power and torque figures. We believe it'll generate more than 150 PS of power on tap with a peak torque of north of 320 Nm.
The oil burner will be offered in two states of tune. We expect the lower variants to get 130 PS of power while the higher variants get 155 PS of power. Both the engines get a six-speed manual transmission as standard and an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
4X4 Mode Available
Earlier, Mahindra provided a 4x4 configuration with the Scorpio, however, that was short-lived. Now, the carmaker will bring the 4x4 model in both petrol and diesel variants with a low transfer ratio just like the Thar. We do expect the 4x4 option to be available in most of the variants and not get limited to the top-end trims.

Safety
Mahindra Auto recently teased a story on their Instagram sharing the better aspects of safety the new Scorpio has to offer. The current model scores 0 stars in the Global NCAP crash rating and we believe that the new model will get a minimum of 4 stars at the Global NCAP.
Pricing
For any new car launch in India, pricing plays an important role. With Scorpio too, the pricing should be aggressive and we believe that the base variant will start from as low as Rs 11.50 lakh. The top of the line trim can go as high as Rs 20 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.
