Undoubtedly the most awaited reveal of this year; the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio might launch in the upcoming month of June. This debut will mark the celebration of the 20th production anniversary of Scorpio.

The latest spy shots surfaced over the internet reveal to us the production-ready camouflaged 2022 Scorpio. Being the oldest product in the Mahindra stable; the new-gen Scorpio will comprise a host of technical changes.
The overall design silhouette resembles the outgoing model while the dimensions are expected to be bigger than it. The front uses a 6-slat grille like the Mahindra XUV700; which is chrome-treated. Headlight design also resembles the outgoing model with a sharp and stretched design. LED projector, LED fog lamps, and C-shaped DRLs are expected on higher models. The front fascia is completely redesigned and looks mature overall.
Spy pics also reveal to us the new alloy wheel design which is blacked out. At the rear, the tailgate is now curvier and uses a big rear windscreen as well. Taillights have also been reworked into all LED and host a new design. We expect the resemblance of the overall design to the new XUV700 as well the outgoing Scorpio.
Cabin spy pics reveal a completely new dashboard, new steering wheel, large touchscreen infotainment, etc. The steering is inspired by the XUV700, while the dashboard seems to be using soft-touch plastic as well.
The new Scorpio is going to be a feature-rich SUV. Visible in spy pics are the multiple drive mode switch knob, hill-assist buttons, etc. Mahindra will introduce the Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Google Maps as well in the new-gen Scorpio. The second-row and third-row seating will get its individual AC unit. Multiple charging ports and easy placement of HVAC buttons are readily visible in the photos.

Mechanically, we anticipate that the 2022 Scorpio will come with the 2.2-Lt, mHawk diesel, and 2.0-lt, turbo-petrol engine options. The diesel engine is the same unit from the current gen but will come in a higher state of tune. Whilst the petrol engine will be an all-new unit to justify the market demand. Mahindra will also enrich the new-gen Scorpio with an AWD system (in top variants) and optional manual as well automatic gearboxes.
Mahindra launched the first-gen Scorpio back in June 2002, hence, the upcoming June marks the 20th production anniversary. It's widely anticipated that Mahindra will celebrate this special anniversary via the launch of the latest-gen Scorpio. As there's no news regarding the price bracket, we suspect the launch price to remain between Rs 12 - 20 Lakhs.
