TVS iQube - Amazon Partnership Details
The TVS iQube has become one of the well-established e-scooter brands in India. Catering to its popularity, TVS also recently upgraded it with new tech. Meanwhile, the JV aims to replace the ICE-powered delivery fleet of Amazon India. As per the official press release, the JV aims to procure up to 10,000 e-scooters by 2025. Hence, a large fleet of EVs will be running in this B2B soon. However, there are no details revealed about which variant of iQube will be supplied. We anticipate that a more basic version might be developed of it for the purpose.
As we know that the EV infra is still expanding in India; fast charging remains a big problem. In the delivery business, Amazon shall not be willing to provide its delivery partners with slow-charging EVs. Hence, TVS might reduce the weight of iQube or maybe excavate some features. This might allow the company to increase its riding range and reduce the charging time as well.
Verdict
As the EV footprint in India keeps on increasing; this new JV will push more such partnerships in the future. Additionally, Amazon operates one of the biggest delivery businesses in India. Hence, the use of iQube will allow the company to considerably reduce its operational costs as well. However, we think that the rivals like Ather 450X Gen 3 & Ola S1 Pro are not far behind in procuring such B2B deals soon.
