The Mercedes-AMG G 63 is back, and this time it comes with a mild-hybrid powertrain. This luxury SUV remains popular in India for a lot of reasons, and apart from the powertrain, it also gets some slight cosmetic and interior upgrades.

2024 Mercedes-AMG G 63: What's New?
The new G 63 obviously retains its cult-classic design, but there are a few tweaks here and there, including a new AMG-specific front bumper with three vertical louvres in the air inlets. It also rides on 22-inch alloy rims, and you can choose from a wide range of colour options; 29, to be precise.
The insides of the new G 63 have also received a major redesign; it now gets the latest MBUX NTG7 display setup, which means the 12.3-inch blended screen setup we have seen on most Merc cars, such as the GLA.
You get wireless smartphone connectivity, along with augmented-reality based navigation, an 18-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system, active brake assist, lane keep assist, and a 360-degree camera among other things.

Launch control makes its debut on the new G 63, and it also boasts of AMG active ride control suspension, with active hydraulic roll stabilization and adaptive adjustable damping. Rounding things off is a new off-road cockpit with a 'transparent hood' function.
Under the hood, the new G 63 gets the 4.0-litre V8, twin-turbo petrol powertrain, producing 576bhp and 850Nm of torque, while paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain receives a 48V electrical system with an intelligent starter-generator system providing an extra 20.1bhp. It also continues to receive the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.

Verdict
The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 now gets a mild-hybrid powertrain, which makes it slightly cleaner for those with fat wallets but a love for the environment. If you are looking to buy one, be prepared to wait, because deliveries for the newest batch will begin from the third quarter of 2025.
