Triumph Daytona 660 - Design, Features, Engine, & Price
In a recently published YouTube video, the upcoming Daytona 660 bike is seen getting unboxed at a dealership yard. The Daytona brand is an iconic name in the super sports category. The previous-gen bike was loved for its racing dynamics and top-end power. However, the newer model is a downgrade in engine specs and power. It is a more usable bike that focuses on everyday practicality. The new model is already on sale in select markets.
The design of the Daytona 660 is inspired by the outgoing model. It gets the stretched-out LED twin-pod headlights. The sculpted fuel tank, spilt seats, and the wide rear profile look beautiful overall. The size of it is smaller as it is based on the Trident 660 platform. Hence, the 660cc inline-three liquid-cooled engine is also carried over. Its power & torque output is 95bhp and 69Nm, while it uses a slipper clutch and a 6-speed transmission to deliver it.
In terms of features, it gets a TFT console, Bluetooth connectivity, ride modes, traction control modes, ABS modes, and much more. Hardware parts include a tubular frame, 41mm SHOWA USD front forks, preload adjustable SHOWA rear monoshock, 17-inch alloy wheels, twin-310mm front disc brakes and a 220mm rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS.
Daytona 660 was earlier scheduled to launch in India by April/May. While that time has passed now, the expected schedule hints towards a June-end launch. As it'll be a premium middle-weight offering, it is expected to be priced at Rs 9-9.5 lakh. The Kawasaki Ninja 650 will be the key rival to the Daytona when launched.

Verdict
The return of Daytona brand in India is for sure exciting. But, the downsized engine and shorter dimensions are not very appealing to look at. However, we shall not comment further until we get to ride one. The global reviews of it are exciting enough to keep the boat sailing. Stay tuned to 91Wheels to get the updates on the upcoming Daytona 660.
