Aprilia RS 457 Naked: What To Expect?
In the image, the naked Aprilia 457 showcases a neo-retro design, featuring a round headlamp and dual round tail lamps. Notably, the naked version excludes the fairing to cut down on weight. The front section is a work in progress, evident from the visible wires, nuts, bolts, and mounting brackets.
At the rear, the naked bike boasts a distinct swingarm compared to the RS 457. This change was necessary as the rear suspension is mounted on the right side, deviating from the central placement in the RS 457. This setup utilizes a decentralized spring strut instead of the conventional central spring strut.
The test mule indicates an ongoing evaluation of the optimal footpeg positioning. Perforated plates are used for mounting the foot pegs, allowing easy adjustments. Various makeshift or work-in-progress components, such as the fuel tank and exhaust, are also visible. The relatively simple tubular steel frame is expected to be sufficient for the naked version.

The equipment, like the front USD forks, seems to be taken from the RS 457. However, the naked model distinguishes itself with USD forks in a golden finish, unlike the RS 457, which uses black-coloured units. The cast aluminium alloy wheels and the 110/70-17 front & 150/60-17 rear tires match those of the RS 457.
The braking system remains consistent, featuring 320 mm and 220 mm discs at the front and rear, respectively. Powering the bike is a 457cc, in-line two-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine delivering 47.6 hp of maximum power and 43.5 Nm of peak torque. It is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox and incorporates ride-by-wire technology.
In its current state, the naked Aprilia 457 will need several months to approach a production-ready stage. In 2024, Aprilia is expected to concentrate solely on the RS 457. If that scenario unfolds, this Naked version is anticipated to debut in 2025, with a price tag roughly equivalent to that of the RS 457.
Verdict
The naked Aprilia 457, with its captivating design and performance enhancements, holds promise for motorcycle enthusiasts. The shift towards a neo-retro profile and innovative features like adjustable foot pegs make it an exciting addition to Aprilia's lineup, though the wait until 2025 may test the patience of eager riders.
