Piaggio recently celebrated its completion of 25 years in India. However, along with the celebrations, news broke out of a new scooter. It is expected that Aprilia Typhoon 125 will soon launch in India. It will get a Euro 5 engine with OBD-2-compliant mechanicals. Read more details about it below.

Aprilia Typhoon 125 Details
As multiple online reports are suggesting, Typhoon will be an entry-level scooter. Aprilia used to sell Strom 125 in India which was discontinued the previous year. However, the Aprilia SR 125 is still on sale but it is pitched as a premium offering. Meanwhile, the Typhoon will be placed under the SR brand and it might launch as soon as March 2023. Speaking of its details, it will get a different design when compared to the SR or the old Storm. The funky looks of it are well supported with small body panels. The overall design looks aggressive and sporty of the Typhoon.
Aprilia uses LED lights on the Typhoon scooter along with the latest equipment. The list of equipment that will possibly be launched includes - telescopic forks, disc brakes (both), & off-road tyres as well. Meanwhile, the instrument console might not get a digital display as seen on the SR. However, the interesting part is the tyres chosen for it. Aprilia is eyeing to offer customers a fun-to-ride scooter than can also be easily taken on bad roads. Hence, the off-road chunky tyres might make it on the production version as well.
In terms of the engine, it will get the same unit as seen on the SR but in a revised form. It is probably going to be reworked as per the Euro 5 emission norms. Additionally, the RDE norms are going to be implied from April; hence, Aprilia will make its OBD-2-compliant as well. Verdict
Aprilia is known for making some premium and fun-to-ride machines worldwide. However, the lack of an entry-level scooter in India is something that it is eyeing to iron out. Hence, the Typhoon looks like a good choice among Aprilia's management. Upon its suspected launch in March'23, it'll rival with Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa 125, & TVS Jupiter 125. Its expected price is Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
