The electric scooter battle of Ather-Ola has intensified as Ather is planning to launch a new scooter. We bring you the very first details of this new product.
Launched back in 2016, Ather energy marked its early presence in the electric two-wheeler segment. While various manufacturers have shifted their focus on the electric segment later on; Ather has set up itself as a trusted brand.
One of such latest products from Ather are the 450X and 450 Plus. Both models were launched back in 2020 and received an immediate good response. The 2.9kWh battery pack helped Ather to achieve a real-world range of 85 km and a top speed of 80 kmph.
But with the launch of Ola electric into the electric two-wheeler category; Ather has decided to ramp up its products. Ola launched their two products badged as S1 and S1 Pro. Both these models gained applause from customers for their efficient real-world range of 135 km.
This range difference is considerably more than the Ather products, hence, Ather has decided to work a new variant of their 450 models. Currently, under development, this new model shall feature a large battery pack aimed towards achieving a real-world driving range of more than 110-115 km.

This enhanced performance will also address issues such as overheating and range anxiety as reported by existing users. On the other hand, Ola electric provides a good driving range but lacklustre of the dealer network and long waiting periods have barred Ola to lead the electric scooter game.
This supply barrier from Ola shall be cashed-in by Ather if the new product will beat the Ola products in terms of driving range as well as performance. This new scooter shall mark its way into the market within a short timeframe of 6 months.
While from both manufacturers; claimed ideal driving range was well above 116 km for Ather & a whooping 181 km for Ola S1 Pro. This was announced at the time of their respective launches. But both of these claims were found not to be worthy by users as multiple buyers reported range anxiety and less real-world riding range than claimed.
With the new battery pack, Ather aims to break the notion and consistently lead the electric scooter segment.
