Audi India announced that due to the rise in input costs, they will hike the prices of all the cars in their line-up.
Audi India will hike prices by 3% of all its cars from April 1, 2022. The announcement was made by the companys head, Mr. Balbir Singh Dhillon. He cited the rise in input costs and change in forex rates, as the reason behind this move. However, it does not change its commitment to a sustainable business model with more EVs slated for launch in the future.
Audi India currently sells the A4, A6, A8 L sedans; Q2, Q5, Q8, and Q7 SUVs, along with aggressive sedans and SUVs like the RS 5 Sportback, RS 7 Sportback, RS Q8 - under its internal combustion engine vehicle portfolio. As for its EV segment, it sells the e-tron 50, e-tron 55, e-tron Sportback and the sportier e-tron GT, and the RS e-tron GT.
Based on the positive response for its EVs, Audi India had also revealed that it plans to localize the manufacturing process of some EV models as well. Audi currently locally manufactures the newly-launched Q7, along with the Q5, A4, and A6 in India. The brand has already registered two-time growth since last year in terms of retail sales. The German marquee sold 3,293 units in 2021, compared to 1,639 units in 2020. By 2033, it plans to go fully electric.
We recently reviewed the 2022 Audi Q7 that comes with an exclusive 3000 cc V6 engine that is rated at 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It has three rows of seating, and all three get power-adjustable seat options. The Audi Q7 rides on a 2994 mm/ 9.82 ft long wheelbase, which is the longest in its segment. The 2022 Q7 competes against the likes of Range Rover Velar, Volvo XC90, BMW X7, or BMW X5, and for some customers, the Audi Q8 as well, which shares the underpinnings of the Lamborghini Urus. The Q7 was launched with an ex-showroom price starting from Rs. 79.99 lakh with the Premium Plus trim, the Technology variants start from Rs. 88.33 lakh. These prices have increased.
