BMW Electric Bike Details
As visible in the leaked photos, the bike is mechanically ready on paper. It will be using the same chassis as that of the G310 R. However, there are some noticeable changes visible. For example, the front wheel size seems bigger than its ICE cousin. Also, the battery pack, electric motor, & other components seem to be carried forward from the CE 04 e-scooter. This is quite understandable as BMW wants to keep the costs in check. Hence, major part-sharing is expected. Additionally, it will be the most-affordable e-bike from BMW; hence cost control is necessary.
BMW sells the CE 04 e-scooter globally. It is quite a successful model in the global market. However, sharing its parts will also save time and money in the construction of the bike. For now, there is no other detail available about this upcoming bike. But, as TVS & BMW have JV in India; this could possibly launch here. Also, the fact that the EV market in India is growing too fast; can not be ignored.
Verdict
The future of automotive is electric for sure. Hence, big names as such BMW are developing and focusing on low-cost EVs. The G310 R electric bike can possibly surface sometime next year. But, it will not be the end of next year until we receive solid good news from the company itself. If launched in India, it'll rival the Ultraviolette F77 directly.
