BMW India has provided a sneak peek of the iX1 electric SUV through its social media channels. The highly anticipated BMW iX1 electric SUV is scheduled to make its debut in the Indian market on September 28th. This marks BMW's fourth electric vehicle introduction in India and serves as the entry-level iX model for the country. The global unveiling of the iX1 took place in June 2022.

BMW iX1 - Exterior & Interior
The upcoming iX1 will essentially serve as the electric counterpart to the X1 SUV, featuring a design language that closely resembles that of the X1. It will share a similar front, side, and rear profile with the X1, while distinguishing itself from the internal combustion engine (ICE) sibling with distinctive blue accents on the front grille, front and rear bumpers, and sides. In essence, it will maintain a striking resemblance to the X1 while incorporating subtle color detailing to set it apart from its ICE counterpart
Inside, the iX1 will feature a familiar layout, including a BMW curved display with 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, connected features, parking assistance, and electrically adjustable front row seats, along with various other convenience and safety amenities.

BMW iX1 - Powertrain
In the global market, the iX1 is equipped with a 64.8 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed WLTP range of 438 kilometers. Additionally, the global iX1 model is available with two motor options: one features a single motor and a front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration, delivering 204 PS of power and 250 Nm of peak torque, while the other boasts a dual-electric motor setup with all-wheel drive (AWD), generating 313 PS of power and 494 Nm of peak torque. BMW has yet to confirm which powertrain the Indian version of the model will be equipped with.
Verdict
The soon-to-be-launched BMW iX1 is set to become the most budget-friendly electric vehicle in BMW's lineup for the Indian market. In India, the iX1 will face competition from models such as the Volvo XC40 Recharge, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and KIA EV6.
