One of the most awaited launches of 2021 has to be of the new Tata Safari and just now the Indian carmaker has opened the bookings for the same at just Rs 30,000 and announced that the launch date is slated for Feb 22. With this amount, we believe that the introductory prices for the same will be curated towards the potential buyers hence more sales.

Sharing details on the engine displacement first then it gets the same FCA sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which is seen on the Harrier. This unit generates 170 PS of power with a peak torque of 350 Nm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed auto gearbox.

The Safari will be available in six variants - XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+. The base XE variant comes with all four-wheel disc brakes, rollover mitigation, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program with hill hold control and thus making it safer from the start. It will only come in a 6-speed manual version. The low-end torque is good in this one.
Moving further towards the XM variant then it is available with all the features from the XE and continuing on the multi-drive modes and the touchscreen unit. The XT variant offers the panoramic sunroof, iRA connectivity, automatic climate control and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The XZ variant comes with a larger 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, signature 18-inch alloy wheels, xenon HID projector headlights, terrain response modes, electronic parking brake with auto hold, 9 JBL speakers and a sunroof for a better sound experience.
The new Safari is an overall package after all but it misses out on the 4x4 which used to come before. Tata claims that this Omega Arc platform is more than ready for the 4x4 mode and if the demand persists then they might launch the 4x4 also.

The bookings for the same has started from Rs 30,000 and the deliveries will commence on Feb 22. Once launched, the new Safari will rival with the likes of Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector Plus and Jeep Compass.
