Ford Endeavour, the flagship SUV from the American brand in India has a big following in the Indian market. Before 1st April, the official date for the implementation of the BS6 emission compliance norm, Ford has started dispatching the updated BS6 compliant Endeavour to the dealerships across India. Here are the first pictures of the Ford Endeavour BS6 and all the details that you want to know.
The new Ford Endeavour looks similar to the BS4 compliant version of the vehicle. However, it comes with updated features and mechanicals. Talking about the mechanicals, there are a few big changes to the car. It gets a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that will replace both the 2.2-litre and the 3.2-litre engine options from the Endeavour. It is a new four-cylinder engine.
The new engine on the Ford Endeavour BS6 is internally known as the 'Panther' and it produces a maximum power of 170 PS at 3,500 rpm. The engine produces a maximum of 420 Nm that peaks between 1,750 rpm and 2,250 rpm. The new engine produces power between the BS4 compliant 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre engine options. The 2.2-litre engine produced a maximum of 160 PS while the 3.2-litre engine produced a maximum of 200 PS. Ford has added the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) exhaust after-treatment system that treats the exhaust fumes with urea injection and lowers the NOx levels.
With the new engine, Ford will also offer a 10-speed automatic transmission that replaces the 6-speed automatic. It is an all-new transmission and is the only 10-speed transmission available in the Indian market at the moment. In comparison, the arch-rival - Toyota Fortuner offers a 6-speed automatic in the BS6 avatar. The gears can be changed manually through a thumb-operated gear selector.
Cosmetically, there are a few mild updates to keep it fresh in the market. The SUV now gets faux vent on the fender and redesigned headlamps.
The SUV also gets a few updates inside the cabin and gets the Ford Pass, which will allow the owners to lock and unlock the SUV, start the engine, and know the live location of the vehicle remotely.
Ford will launch the vehicle soon in the market and the price is expected to be around Rs 32 lakhs ex-showroom.
