Force Gurkha 5-Door: Design and Features
The upcoming 5-Door version of Gurkha will essentially rival the upcoming Thar 5-Door and the Maruti Jimny 5-Door. While the Jimny doesn't look as big as the Gurkha, the Thar 5-Door will be its direct competition. Hence, the elongated wheelbase, and a second-row addition are expected to bring more sales to the brand.
As partially visible in the spy photos, the car is completely camouflaged. However, it'll get an extended wheelbase, new 18-inch alloy wheels, and G-Wagon-inspired design. Force will offer LED headlights, a new front grille, and a redesigned rear bumper on it.
While the interiors are still uncovered, it appears that the second row will get captain seats. There might be an option of a single bench on the second row. The dashboard design is also likely to get some updates like a bigger infotainment screen, differently positioned AC vents, and more.
Engine Options, Price, and Launch Date
Under the bonnet, the same FM CR 2.6 diesel engine will power it which is also used on the 3-Door version. But, the ECU will be re-tuned according to the dimensional and weight changes. A 4X4 drivetrain with manually locking differentials for the rear and front will also be offered as standard.
Considering the length, and new features, we expect that Force will price it somewhere between Rs 18 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. The launch date is unknown but it can debut around the mid-2024.
Verdict
The new 5-Door Gurkha will not only be long but it'll be equally capable. The high altitude testing indicates that Force doesn't want to miss a chance to attack on the upcoming Thar 5-Door. Once the SUV nears its debut timeline more details will be revealed about it.
