Exterior
Forget the Everest moniker, this Fortuner rival embraces the Endeavour badging in India. This global powerhouse rolls onto the scene with commanding dimensions and a bold attitude. Its broad stance and imposing grille, adorned with either chrome or black accents depending on the trim, radiate undeniable road presence. Depending on your needs, you can choose from 17-inch to 21-inch alloy wheels, and four globally available trims: Ambiente, Trend, Sport, and Platinum.
Sleek C-shaped LED DRLs flank the striking twin cube headlights, while fog lamps and a chrome-tipped lower bumper complete the aggressive front fascia. The rear echoes the modern design with a distinctive band housing LED tail lamps and the Everest emblem (though in its home market, it bears the Endeavour badge).
Ford Endeavour: Interior And Features
Dive into the Endeavour's blacked-out interior, warmed by ambient lighting. Two gloveboxes keep clutter at bay, while a 10-inch infotainment screen comes standard (jump to 12-inch on higher trims, think Volvo-esque design). Ditch the cables - wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay keeps you connected. Top-end Platinum gets a fancy 12.4-inch instrument cluster, and everyone benefits from a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charger, and various charging ports. Tech haven or practicality haven, the Endeavour's interior delivers.
However, the Indian model is expected to arrive with some country-specific tweaks like an updated interior theme, more soft-touch leather, and more.
Powertrain: Stable Of Beastly Horsepowers
Ford Endeavour offers two diesel options: a 2.0L Bi-Turbo with 206bhp/500Nm or a 3.0L V6 boasting 247bhp/600Nm. Both roar through a 10-speed auto, offering e-shifter control over rear-wheel or 4x4 (standard on Platinum, optional on others). Tame any terrain with Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Sand modes. Even navigate water depths of 800mm at 7kmph.
However, it is more likely to hit our shores with the 2.0-litre Bi-turbo variant due to stricter norms in the country after the BS6 Phase-2 compliance. Before ceasing operations last time in India, Ford decided to put the 3.2-litre engine to rest and the same can be expected this time around.

Ford Endeavour: Expected Launch
The return is happening but with 2 possibilities. The strategy involves the assembly of the Endeavour at the company's Chennai factory. Alternatively, the possibility of direct importation is also under consideration. Given that the import of fully-built cars without homologation remains permissible - up to 2,500 units annually - Ford could potentially expedite the availability of the current Endeavour in India through importation while preparing for local assembly by 2025.
Verdict
Ever since its exit from the Indian market, the Endeavour has been missed dearly by enthusiasts. The main rival to the Toyota Fortuner, this beastly SUV with news of its re-entry has sparked a renewed interest amongst potentidal buyers. However, it remains to be seen how much of a dent it can put in the sales of its Toyota competitor. Are you waiting for the arrival of Endeavour? Do share your thoughts in the comments.
