Ford Endeavour is the flagship SUV from Ford in India and it sells in very good numbers. The current-gen model of the Endeavour was launched in India in 2016 and in 2019, it received a mid-life update. Then, in 2020, Ford launched the Endeavour with a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine which wasn't as powerful as its old 3.2-litre oil-burner. Now, recently a test mule of the Ford Endeavour full-size SUV has been spied on test in India.
The test mule of the Ford Endeavour has been spied with semi camouflage and it is also equipped with the emission testing kit. However, there aren't any cosmetic changes visible on the outside. So, why Ford could be testing the Endeavour? There might be two reasons for the same. Either ARAI i.e. the Automotive Research Association of India might be testing the emission standards of the SUV. Or else, Ford India might be testing a new engine for the Endeavour disguised as the current version of this popular full-size SUV.

Last year, while transitioning from BS4 to BS6 emission norms, there were some reports that Ford might launch the Endeavour with a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that is available abroad. However, that didn't happen and it got a single turbo oil-burner only. But now, it seems that Ford might be planning to launch the 2.0-litre twin-turbo mill to lock horns against the Toyota Fortuner. Currently, the Endeavour is powered by a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This oil-burner churns out 170 PS of power and 420 Nm of peak torqu. The engine comes mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox and it can be had with 4x2 as well as 4x4 drivetrains.

If Ford launches the 2.0-litre twin-turbo Panther diesel engine in India, that will make it the most powerful SUV in its class. That's because this motor churns out 213 PS of power and a whopping 500 Nm of peak torque. So, do you think Ford will launch the twin-turbo version of the oil-burner with the Endeavour anytime soon in India?
