In a piece of recent news, Ford India has discontinued the automatic variants of both Figo and Aspire. Bookings for these models have been stopped across India as well. Following the post, Absolute Black and Deep Impact Blue shade won't be available in its range.
The automatic trims of both Ford Figo and Aspire were available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine only. The models were only available with the top-spec Titanium trim and will be dropped off officially from the company's website on January 15.
Sharing more info about the power outputs of the strong 1.5L petrol automatic then it churns out 123 PS of power along with a peak torque of 150 Nm. This same engine is found under the hood of Ford Ecosport also with both manual and automatic transmission on the go.
The manufacturer has not revealed as to why they let go off the 6-speed torque converter unit. Maybe the company will introduce an automatic in their smaller 1.2-litre Dragon petrol engine. And if that happens then the prices will be fairly competitive with its rivals as the unit will be able to enjoy the tax benefits. The 1.2L petrol engine produces 96 PS and is mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. The maximum torque sticks to 120 Nm.
The prices of the Ford Figo starts from Rs 5.23 lakh and top model fetches till Rs 7.65 lakh. And the sedan version, Aspire sits at a price bracket of Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 8.63 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi. We have not included the prices of Titanium trims of both the version which offers an automatic gearbox as they will be discontinued shortly.
Furthermore, the Ecoboost engine of the Ford Ecosport is also discontinued in the market. It used to come with 'S' trim only. The 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine makes 124 bhp on tap. The peak torque sticks to 170 Nm and the ARAI certified mileage is 18.1 km/l. The reason for the discontinuation of this Ecoboost engine is because of the high cost of the upgradation to BS6 norms.
