Ford India MPV: What Possibly Can It Be?
The latest design patent of a new MPV model by Ford indicates that there are strong plans for a comeback by the company. As visible in the patent photo, this new sleek-looking MPV will target the mass market. The design is subtle in the patent images and there are less edgy and futuristic elements visible. A big sunroof is definitely a positive for the feature-loving customers. While there are no details available about it, we can safely assume that if it comes to India it'll compete with the Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens.
Engine-wise, there are online rumours that Ford will not bring back its diesel engines. Therefore, this MPV might also get only petrol-powered motor options. Currently, as per the online reports, Ford is focusing on the EVs to be manufactured in India. But, the Ford Endeavour will be the first model to be launched when Ford officially enters the Indian market. There is a high possibility that Ford will sell the Endeavour under the name 'Everest'.
Not to mention, Ford has also patented the design of a mid-size SUV which will possibly compete with the Hyundai Creta segment. This SUV might be rebranded as Ecosport; a popular SUV name in the market. Speaking of the MPV, no further assumptions can be made about it but we can expect Ford to bring this model to India by next year. Its pricing can be somewhere around Rs 9-15 lakh.
