Mercedes-Benz India has marked a major manufacturing milestone with the roll-out of its 200,000th locally produced car at its state-of-the-art facility in Chakan, Pune. The commemorative vehicle, an all-electric EQS SUV, was driven off the assembly line by Dr. Jorg Burzer, Member of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, in the presence of Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India. Mercedes-Benz India: A Journey from 1995 to 200,000 Cars

This achievement not only underscores the brand's enduring commitment to India but also solidifies its position as the country's leading luxury automobile manufacturer. From assembling its first car in 1995 to hitting the 200K mark in 2025, Mercedes-Benz has significantly ramped up its local production capabilities. What took nearly two decades to achieve for the first 50,000 cars was exponentially accelerated, with the latest 50,000 vehicles produced in just over two years.

India: A Strategic Hub in Global Operations

India continues to play a strategic role in Mercedes-Benzs global manufacturing footprint. The Chakan facility, which has operated entirely on renewable energy since 2022, has become a benchmark in quality, sustainability, and innovation. It is the only plant outside Germany to have produced the prestigious Mercedes-Maybach S500 and is currently responsible for manufacturing 11 high-end models, including electric offerings like the EQS Sedan and the recently launched EQS SUV.
