Global NCAP has released the crash test results for the year 2020 and it is rather shocking. The 2020 crash test results from Global NCAP comes with three cars - Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Kia Seltos. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso got Zero stars, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios got Two stars and the Kia Seltos got Three stars in adult safety.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has got a shocking Zero star rating in the crash test conducted by Global NCAP under the #SaferCarsForIndia initiative. Along with the Zero stars in Adult safety, the S-Presso only managed to get two stars for child safety. The S-presso got 0 points out of 17 points for adult safety and 13.84 points out of 49 points for child safety. The bodyshell and the footwell area were found unstable and couldn't bear further loadings. The model of the S-presso was not equipped with passenger airbag and seatbelt pre-tensioners.
Hyundai Grand-i10 Nios
The Hyundai Grand-i10 Nios was also tested by Global NCAP and the results are not great. The Gi10 Nios secured Two stars in adult safety rating and two stars in child safety rating. Talking about points, the Nios gets 7.05 points out of 17 for adult safety and 15 points out of 49 for child safety. The bodyshell and the footwell area were found unstable and couldn't bear further loadings. It comes as a shock as the cheaper Hyundai Santro also got 2 stars and even the ratings for both adult and child safety are close to similar. This reinforces the fact that both the Nios and Santro shares a common platform.
Kia Seltos
This is the car which took the market by storm and curated a lot of hype in the Indian market. Sadly, the crash test results are nowhere close to the hype as the Seltos just got three starts in adult safety and two stars for child safety. Talking about the points, the Seltos scored 8.03 out of 17 points for adult safety and 15 out of 49 points for child safety. The bodyshell and the footwell area were found unstable and couldn't bear further loadings. Just to draw some context, the Tiago - despite being from a lower segment of cars - scored Four stars for adult safety and Three stars for child safety which are more than what Seltos scored.

Summing it up, the crash test results of 2020 via Global NCAP are not at all satisfactory. The S-Presso failed the test by scoring Zero stars whereas the G-i10 Nios scored just Two stars. The disappointment comes out in the case of the Seltos as the safety rating is much lower than what we had expected and Kia and all other manufacturers should not skimp on safety.
