Harley Davidson HD 400 - Design & Features
As it is going to be a more mass-segment bike, Harley has opted for a neo-retro roadster design. The overall shape mimics the X350 at some points but the exact image of the bike is different. It gets a round LED headlamp & round turn indicators with a rectangular LED taillight. The front uses USD forks with an upright riding posture. The rider seat is a single-piece unit that looks promising in terms of comfort. However, the fuel tank is quite edgy and beffy to look at. At the rear, a fat rear tyre and the upright set design is evident.
Harley is going to equip it with the latest features. One of these is the fully digital round display. This will also offer Bluetooth connectivity for phones. Hence, we can also expect features like call alerts, navigations, &, etc. This TFT display will offer crisp rider info like a tachometer, speedometer, dual trip meters, & distance to empty, average fuel economy, &, etc. The overall riding ergonomics on it will be comfortable and easy. Meanwhile, safety features shall include the dual-channel ABS and maybe various riding modes.
Engine & Specifications
The most prominent part of this new bike is its engine. It will be different from the X350 in every term. Harley has developed a new engine specifically for this bike. As the nameplate on the spy pics suggests, it is going to be a 400-450cc engine. But, look closely and one can easily spot the single-cylinder unit. Additionally, it will get liquid cooling to generate rich torque figures. It is quite evident as the exhaust unit is also a single-pipe system with a rather fat exhaust can. Meanwhile, it'll be equipped with alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, USD front forks, dual shockers at rear, & bigger disc brakes at both of its ends.
Launch, Price, & Rivals
If we believe the online reports, this bike is nearing its production stage. Even in the spy pics, it looks almost showroom ready. However, it won't be anytime before late 2023 that we get to witness its debut globally. India is one of the prominent markets for mid-segment capacity bikes; it'll surely debut here. However, it is going to be priced at a premium of at least Rs 2.5-3 lakh (expected). Speaking of its direct rivals, it'll compete with Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, Honda Hness CB 350, & Yezdi Roadster.
